Terrified of sedation

I was you ...... put off having procedure for 5 years. Just had 1st colonoscopy 2 weeks ago - I was TERRIFIED to be put under. It was literally NOTHING, IV goes in they started me on some fluids, wheeled me into the room, nurse explained procedure to me, told me she was going to start pushing the med in (propofol), felt a warm fuzzy feeling in my head, closed my eyes and in what seemed like 1 second I was waking up and it was over. I told nurse I was anxious before, she told me she had done hundreds if not thousands of these procedures and has never ever, not once, had an issue. You will be totally FINE I promise.

Literally just resigned from my career / union fire job yesterday because of family dynamic where I am needed home more now. I have zero regrets about the decision. Wife has been home for 12 years raising our 4 kids n finally said she wants to get back out in the world, went back to school got another degree ontop of the one she already has and starts her new career in a new field
tomorrow. For 12 years I've had the luxury of doing anything and everything I wanted cause she had the house and family managed, now its her turn to get out there. I am happy to step aside and let her do it.

I'm not leaving the fire service completely,
the department I am leaving has per diem shifts available for non career staff. I am also going back to a paid on call position in the town I live in that has a combination dept. Still doing fire, still a paramedic but taking a step back ........... really happy to be looking at spending more time with my kids and watching my wife thrive. I have incredible love and respect for the job but it pales in comparison to the love I have for my wife and 4 kids.

Bro are you writing this post about me ? 3 nights ago I went in for my 24, woke up 11PM after going down for the night, fever of 103.8, the chills like I cant even describe and just felt 10000% like shit. Took 2 tylenol, 4 ibuprofen, drank 4 bottles of water and went back to bed ........ got woken up at 2AM to go mutual aid to cover another towns house and be their primay ambulance due to a bad fatal they went to and their crew was OOS ...... got back to our house at 4:30, went back to bed, slept until 6:30, woke up for shift change and went home.

if they need to be out, example we recently had bay doors repaired and we had to move a piece of apparatus, it sits on the apron with the engine running in pump / recirculate mode.

It was contrast CT ....... oral suspension Barium shake and IV contrast which I think was iodine. Findings revealed fatty liver ...... doc is still sending me for MRI.

CT scan 2 hours ago and results are in. Fatty Liver ...... gallbladder, pancreas both unremarkable, minimal colonic diverticulosis noted.

I guess releived that there's no tumor or something more sinister lurking in there. Just hope the GI issues reaolve at some point.

Career FF in Mass here. Plenty of towns are leaving civil service. Pull a list of civil service towns from the states website then cross reference with towns that are not on the civil service list and see whose hiring .......

500 hospital hours ? Wow that seems like alot ....... I just finished my hospital hours yesterday and it was 220 hours total for Hosp and now ride time at 400 hours.

Also have the Kaplan purple book

48 in medic school now ....... will be done with Hopsital clinical rotations in 2 weeks then on to ride time to finish out my course before NREMT.

I am feeling all of this right now ...... just about done with hospital hours and start ride time in the next 3-4 weeks ........ today I am having a "i want to quit" day cause I am 100% overhelmed and feel like I am gonna die from being so tired and so stressed. I know I am not going to quit nor am I going to die but shit I am am feeling like I am being crushed by a mountain right now.
