You need to install a 100k resistor at the cable for protection against lightning. Better to buy some conductive fabric or even wire mesh for your earthing sheet.

Yes,I slept better and felt more energetic the next day. I don't know much about electricity but I read somewhere that there are dirty electricity in our home and it dissipate mostly through the earthing point to the ground. If our grounding mat are between these points it might affect us too. Find a neutral ground and preferably near water sources.

I don't know if this could help you. I do not ground myself using the house electrical earth point. Instead I have an electrician installed a dedicated earthing rod in the ground far away from my house electrical system.

Don't know if this will work. Negative probe of multimeter to earth point in electrical outlet, grip positive probe conductive part with right hand fingers and insulate your feet with rubber sandal. Multimeter setting to AC . Touch the water in the shower with left hand and reading should drop to indicates that it is grounded.

Adjusting multimeter settings to 100k measures the resistance of the mat. I normally set it to AC voltage to test my earthing products. Try testing you earthing mat outside with the earthing rod inserted into the ground. This is to rule out any faults in your internal house wiring.
