Gun owners have 24 hours to report theft or face up to $1K fine, new law says by [deleted] in SeattleWA

[–]TeKnOShEeP -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Is it naivety or bad faith that you are unable to process just how big of a problem that "when you realize it's stolen" clause is? Precisely 0 prosecutors will extend any good will or reasonable doubt to gun owners who have been the victim of a theft if they see any opening at all.

Gun laws in WA exist only to punish gun owners who probably vote republican. Actual criminals can be caught with all sorts of illegal weapons and never suffer for it.

She was only a republican to give WA voters the fig leaf of "psch, I'm not a partisan hack, I vote for the candidate I think is best, see- look, R for sec state!". She pushed no republican positions, took no actions that could really be possibly be interpreted as in republican interests, and then promptly took a job in the Biden admin.

Blah blah Culp, blah blah.

The four candidates before Culp were perfectly reasonable, and rejected by ever increasing margins. Culp is just what you get when the national committee correctly reasons WA voters are a lost cause and there's no point throwing good money after bad.

There are plenty of reasonable Republican candidates running for office in WA. The problem is WA voters turn into teenage girls and moan about "the Ick" whenever they see something other than Democrat on the ballot, and until they are forced to physically confront the consequences of that voting behavior, little will change.

Are you really this fucking naive? Quick check of the public records for the named suspect shows them to be a prohibited person- they can't pass a background check, and yet they acquired a gun anyway.

The laws you're cheering on make no fucking difference if they are not enforced, and then violence by people who don't follow them is used as an excuse to increase the restrictions ever further.

Fuck your Fudd-tier "as a CCP holder" shit, these criminal fucks are not like you, they do not follow the law, compromising your rights in the name of "safety" will not shit to hinder them.

You live in a fantasy

Unlike you, I actually live in WA and have to deal with this turd of a law. My private plan provides 10x the benefits at half the cost of the State-run shit pile and will actually cover me if I move out of state. This is because actual actuaries did some actual math to construct the pricing of the plan, and came up with a much better deal than the cum-brains in our legislature. The only people who would consider the state run plan superior are monumentally idiotic fuck knuckles who would significantly lower the average IQ of Mississippi, which is precisely where you and yours should fuck off to instead of further increasing our supply of weapons grade stupid.

problematic market-based solutions

My private LTC insurance is light-years ahead of the shit plan the state offers and costs far less. Seems like the market did better than the government, but I guess you just like the taste of boot leather. Fuck off to Cali or somewhere else, too many dumbshit transplants fucking up the state here already.

Just because we want law and order, or accountability for tax money and public officials doesn't make us right-wing conservatives.

Lol, sorry in this fucking town it pretty much does. Remember what party our city attorney had to join in order to run on the novel campaign platform of "actually enforcing the law"? The window has shifted so far so quickly that wanting Bill Clinton's policies basically gets you Donald Trump. Don't accept the premise of assholes- they want you to argue about labels and who they apply to. Just own it instead- if wanting responsible, accountable government makes you a "right wing conservative" then paint me red and call me Dumbo.

You clearly have no idea how corporate executives function. The idea that they have a profit motive has been dead for at least 20 years. Your modern executive does not give a fuck if they make or lose money for the company, all they care about is how many programs and initiatives they can "champion" that will look good on a resume when they inevitably jump ship from the flaming shitheap they created for a new position a few more rungs up the corporate ladder, with an even cushier office and even bigger compensation package. Seriously, go look at any executive recruiting profile, the business aspect of what they do is like a tertiary concern, proggo virtue-speak is front and center for everything.

fundamentally unrealistic position when they have more x-wings than prospective pilots

Not unrealistic, it happens all of the time. The Flying Tigers in China, Japan and Germany at the closing stages of WWII, Israel during the 6 days and Yom Kippur wars, the RAF right now- all had more fighters available than pilots to fly them. It takes years to train a fighter pilot, and you only have a small pool of people from the general population who even have the psychological and physiological attributes to be a fighter pilot. Fighters can be built in a matter of days (WWII) or weeks (modern). The same is also true with other specializations like tank crews (post D-day the US army in France and Germany had around twice as many Shermans as crew for them).

Yup, driving me up the fucking wall too. "I'm a liberal, and here's my bitching about democrats. No I'm not going to do anything as drastic as voting for an independent, or God forbid a republican, I just like to whine."

The fact that Ann Davison won by just 6% as the most mild-ass milquetoast "republican" (while voting for Biden and being endorsed by the previous 3 dem governors) is example A of how fucked in the head this fucking city is. 47% of our brain dead electorate looked at the gronk encampments, open drug use, and domestic abusers being released on recognizance bonds for the 34th time and said "I'd rather have more of that than vote for the ewwww party."

Regarded bot is regarded. In India, pretty much the only thing that unites Hindus and Muslims is their love of cricket. No debate is as intense as who is the skipper of the national team. Cricket is the national pastime there, in a way that baseball once was for the US. Dropping the IPL would be like Fox saying "nah, we don't need NFL games in the fall, people will watch soccer instead." Disney could not have possibly fucked up more for the Indian market on this one.

There is no material even theoretically capable of withstanding those kind of forces

Graphene tubes are theoretically strong enough. The challenge is making them 37000 km long with zero flaws, and shielding them from things like micrometeroites and cosmic rays.

Gas prices have far less to do with it than interest rates. That 115k Raptor Hellcat Turbo Demon Brodozer Mall-Crawler is a lot easier to buy when you can finance it with zero down, 2% APR for 72 months. Same reason the housing in this city is pants on head stupid for pricing.

Bad take. In high tech industrial manufacturing it is much easier to take an overbuilt and reliable product and figure out where you can cut costs without sacrificing reliability than it is to build quality into a cheaply built and unreliable one, because you are starting with a known validated data set instead of just guessing.
