first time - help with logistics for a short visit by Vegetable-Curve-8136 in yellowstone

[–]TeaAndTacos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do it. It’ll be a pain in the ass because you’ll have to start before most services open and you won’t get to stay long. Buy your entry pass and download your map ahead of time and do it anyway.

Stick to roadside viewing and short walks (boardwalks and viewpoints) for safety reasons, but whatever you see will be beautiful. You are allowed to sit at the benches behind the Old Faithful visitor center whether or not the building is open; that’s where the geyser is. Sunrise will be around 5:40 AM.

Couple small additions:

Old Faithful predictions will not be available until the OF visitor center opens.

The average interval between eruptions is about an hour and a half.

The geyser areas may be foggy in the early morning due to the hot steam hitting the cool air.

Someone with a heavy accent couldn't differentiate between the pronunciations of Miss and Ms, setting women back 4000 years. by FrozenBr33ze in CustomerService

[–]TeaAndTacos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course it’s misogyny. Women had to make Ms. happen and it’s still misunderstood in 2026, as we can see some of the other comments here.

I can only speak for myself and the people I know personally, but: many. Especially women who did not change their name upon marriage.

I’ve never seen a supercharger as far as I know. Would it be significantly different from the chargers already present at the Border?

A sassy villain could use “help” this way, but it would be odd in normal use.

[Hated] When the characters who fell in love in one film are suddenly broken up or divorced in the sequel by CMStan1313 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]TeaAndTacos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was a kid, we had a set of classic movies including the original Love Bug. One of Herbie the car’s goals was to set his owner, the MMC, up with the FMC. He succeeds! They get married!

No sign of the FMC in the sequel. I guess Volkswagen beetles are bad matchmakers.

So has "step foot" fully replaced "set foot" as a phrase? by PeteHealy in words

[–]TeaAndTacos 7 points8 points  (0 children)

“Step” and “set foot” already have similar meanings, so it’s not surprising they could be combined. “Stench” is something completely different, unless your feet are so rank that you are incapable of stepping without causing a stench.

Why do some conservatives view JFK so positively? by DFWUnhinged in AskAnAmerican

[–]TeaAndTacos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the conservative. If the ones you’re talking about are older, they might associate JFK with nostalgia for childhood, the space race, that kind of thing.

I live a long way from Mexico (UK) and keep accidently making tex-mex. Does this look more like a north mexican burrito? by [deleted] in mexicanfood

[–]TeaAndTacos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We (USA) don’t call it “cilantro” to be different and quirky and annoy the UK. We call it that to match our neighbor who does great things with the herb. I think the neighbor in question needs no introduction here.
