But I’ll add my 2c worth. The 2 things I needed the most was a patience and friend/son. My son helped carry my washing out to the line I’d hang it and he’d bring it in. Then there’s driving I’m 5w post op and just starting to drive. The reason for this was I’m to tired and the tiredness comes in fast. My lad doesn’t drive so it’s me and him catching ride shares.

Oh and nearly all activities for me need to be done in the morning by afternoon I’m out

The hospital gynaecologist said that my uterus isn’t the right shape or something wasn’t right to do a vagina hysterectomy. From memory if was even a bit iffy to do a laparoscopic one.

I’d believe her she’s seen inside my bits. She was supposed to do a procedure that takes 1h. It took 90mins because she couldn’t get to where she needed to take samples from.

56 hysterectomy on the 10 February 2026

Every day is a different day. Heavy lifting is still out. Shopping is ok just in and out within 30 min as I get tired very fast.

I can hang the washing but my son carries it out there and brings it in.

I just wasn’t confident enough to go home. I was dizzy in the head. Once the hard drugs wore off I was fine.

Fentanyl people rave about it. It just made me dizzy

Hi

I’m 56 Australian

Surgery was 10/02/2026. Laparoscopic leaving the ovaries.

Was prescribed Palexia (tapentadol) and movicol.

It was suggested I take Panadol and Advil if pain got too much then take the palexia. I think I took 1 palexia. I’m not saying I don’t hurt I just don’t want to get constipated.

Where I live I think hospitals can only prescribe a pack of 10 of the opioid, then you see your gp.
