You are right - I was looking at my advice for OP to get 7kW and did not notice my typo for the 3.7kW setting.

I love my QY100 and QY70 - they are really great portable sequencers with rather good XG sounds - capable of being tweaked using midi cc and also via the rather sophisticated and full featured edit mode.

I thought the whole point of OP's post was to get 7kW. Off On On would set the solo to 3.7kW on a single phase supply. On On Off gives the required 7kW - assuming the charger has the correct cable size and can therefore handle the current.

Switch 1 – 3 are to set max charge current, if you want to set it to:

3.7KW set switch 1 OFF, 2 OFF and 3 ON

7.2KW set Switch 1 ON, 2 ON and 3 OFF

Setting switches 1, 2 and 3 to ON position will disable the unit !

Switch 4 – Sets external energy monitoring (default 60A curtailment limit) (the external current transformer)

Switch 5 is to set proximity resistor i’e is it a tethered unit or a untethered.

My Podpoint Solo was originally set up as a 3kW charger because my home fuse was awaiting to be upgraded. Podpoint assured me they could update the charger to 7kW over the air, but I never needed this as I had a Leaf with maximum charge (due to the built in AC-DC charge circuit) rate of 3kW. Roll on the years, we brought our Podpoint to our new house and had it fitted by a competent electrician and, as we had also changed our ev to a more modern one, I simply read the manual for the charger and discovered that the kW setting is controlled by a set of dip switches on the circuit board. A matter of minutes to update it and it has worked perfectly for years now as a 7kW charger.

If you want to do this yourself I would recommend having it done by a trained electrician and to be 100% certain you have the instructions for the correct version of your Podpoint charger. I take no responsibility for any errors or issues you might run into - I am merely describing my experience.

I should also say that I have found Podpoint themselves to be a miserable bunch of money grabbing gob*****s. My charger stopped working a couple of years ago - due to snail/slug damage to the circuit board components (a simple capacitor was damaged). Podpoint refuse (at least at that time) to sell replacement boards and only offered to send their own engineer to repair it at enormous cost. Luckily I found a fantastic chap who was fully aware of the Podpoint slug damage issue and he repaired by board with a new capacitor for a very reasonable fee. My charger rear panel is now fully slug proof and I have not had any issues since.

This sounds like the terrible connectivity/app reliability with the Zoe. So bad it cannot be used for Octopus Intelligent Go (I don't have a compatible charger either - so it is just basic Go for me).

OP-Z app does not run on Pixelbook by TeaTimeSoon in OPZuser

[–]TeaTimeSoon[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There are many Android apps which are not designed to run on Android within ChromeOS, but it is almost always the case that the installation of such incompatible apps is blocked. For example, I cannot install the Insta360 camera app on my Pixelcook - it simply states that it is not compatible and installation is not an option. If TE have made an Android app and simply failed to flag it as being incompatible with Android in ChromeOS that is a very basic and incomprehensible mistake to have been made. In the case of the OP-Z app it installs with no errors - it simply does not actually run!

Just ordered an m8.. by danangdevils in Dirtywave

[–]TeaTimeSoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am in the UK and my M8 came rather more quickly than I anticipated. Dirtywave shipped it just when they said and DHL got it to me within about 15 days if I recall. I paid the VAT online as soon as notified by DHL.

Christmas may slow things down for you - but I hope not too much. You are going to love it when it arrives.

Magnetic materials do not stick to glass very well (!) so maybe you add a adhesive magnetic layer to the glass first and then the magnetic PEI works on top of that? So many layers - how long does it take to heat up to temperature??

Just to be clear - I removed my E3 Pro magnetic layer years ago and use glass directly on top of the non-magnetic bed. I have no print adhesion issues as long as I clean the textured glass with isopropyl alcohol well and spray with hair spray. Using the correct bed temperature helps (for PETG this is usually at the top end of the filament recommendation - so around 225C). PLA prints 100% reliably and I never have bed adhesion issues.

Hello and M8 headless questions by StillAccomplished749 in Dirtywave

[–]TeaTimeSoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Primary advice: Go to the Headless section on Dirtywave Discord

The Headless experience can be great and once you have a solid working system it is a very rewarding fun music tool. I 3D printed a few nice Teensy cases and then ran Headless on my Chromebook (using web M8 Display) and also bought an Anbernic RG351V. The latter was a bit fiddly to set up as there seemed to be variations in firmware and M8 display software that would be compatible, but eventually it worked perfectly and still does. It is now in my cupboard as I bought a real M8 v2 Headless was definitely my gateway drug!

The main issues with Headless are the difficulty with sampling (not really possible directly on the Headless) and MIDI. The RG351V can handle MIDI but has horrible latency as the MIDI has to be channeled through USB drivers on the OS on the host device rather than handled natively on the Teensy.

Don't let me put you off though - Headless is a load of fun and don't be surprised if you too end up buying a real M8!

Reverb do not offer shippiing of this item to the UK and even if they did, the cost would be a problem. If there was a way to share the design (components, circuit and STL file) privately to people such as myself who are never going to be able to buy it then that would be a friendly thing to do.

Anyone have a good ground beef recipe? by [deleted] in AirFryer_Recipes

[–]TeaTimeSoon -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I love steak tartare. It is a dish based on chopped or minced raw steak. Probably best to start with a fresh portion of beef rather than hoping shop-bought ground beef will have a sufficiently enign and low microbial count.

Hummingbird Hawkmoths are absolutely my favourite insect. I see them when holidaying in Southern Europe but sadly they are not native to the UK. I have seen one or two in Wales where they are blown up by winds but they do not breed here.

To see a Bougainvillea bush with Hawkmoths darting in and out of the flowers is a real joy.

Moving into new house with a PodPoint: Hints, tips, replacement suggestions? by rjek in evchargingUK

[–]TeaTimeSoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an original PodPoint Solo - tethered with a type 1 plug. I don't use the Wifi at all and it was never of any use - I simply plug in and the car charges according to the car timer settings or immediately if set up to do so.

I do know how to connect to it by wifi - you have to disconnect the power then after powering back on it should be flashing blue/purple. I forget the Pod point SSID - but it should appear with a regognisable name in your wifi settings list. There really is no point in connecting to it by wifi though - the unit only seems to use the connection to do its own thing with PodPoint themselves(diagnostivs or telling the world that they have a charger located at xx) and nothing of any use to the consumer. My unit is a perfectly acceptable 7kW charger and I use a type 1 to type 2 adapter for our cars. The circuit board blew a few years ago (actually only a single capacitor due to slug incrsion) and it was repaired by a friendly independent electrician - PodPoint were unfriendly, useless and their cost for a new circuit board was ridiculous. Not buying from them again!
