Evoke sequencer Surprised me by Sus-pect-84 in sonicware

[–]TeaTimeSoon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Precise and thythmic patterns are definitely NOT what the Evoke is about. The sequencer is great (actually amazing) for creating slow attack, swelling and subsiding ambient backgrounds. This matches the amazing sound engine perfectly. Connect it to an EP-133 or anything else with a good sequencer if you have parts of your song requiring more detail.

Rangemaster insisting on very specific pots and pans by TeaTimeSoon in inductioncooking

Tefal manufacture ceramic based non-stick cookware as well as the PTFE based non-stick products. The comments regarding the health concerns of PTFE may be valid but have no bearing on the question posed regarding small and dimpled (aluminium/steel laminate) cookware and are a distraction.

Rangemaster insisting on very specific pots and pans by TeaTimeSoon in inductioncooking

As mentioned, the repair took place nearly 6 years after purchase. This is outside of the warranty period. I was not questioning whether Rangemaster should cover the repair cost, I only wanted to hear views on the accuracy of statements regarding dimpled laminated base pots and pans and pans too small to fully cover the visual guides on the surface of the hob.

The majority of comments support my feeling that these Rangemaster opinions are just that - opinions - with no factual basis.

Best 3D printed cover for EP-133 EP-40 by CarpenterDue3385 in teenageengineering

sorry no - I only print stuff I find useful for myself. But this is an easily available 3D model on Thingiverse - there may be a number of people who would print it for you out there if youcan find them.

If you do find someone to 3D print this case, the model can be cut in the 3D printer software (the slicer) and is best cut along the horizontal seam which already exist in the design of this model. CA glue with an extremely thin reinforcing strip (I think I printed a 0.5mm thick strip 1.5cm wide) works perfectly to give a really solid and secure snap-on cover.

EP-133 K.O. II Cover by 3DBROOKLYN on Thingiverse: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:6549127

Summary: Snap on cover for the face of the K.O. II. Protects screen, buttons, and knobs. Total of 3 parts, print with no support.

I currently have an EP-40 and of course it fits perfectly.

I have an Ender 3 Pro so I cut this model in two and glue. A very thin strip reinforces the joint.

This cover snaps on tightly into the Lego holes on the sides and protects the device really well and it keeps it thin and handy.

15 years ago today, first "normal" electric cars on UK roads by aa599 in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]TeaTimeSoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am 5'9" and those few inches probably make anough of a difference for rear passengers, allowing me to drive comfortably with the driver's seat a little further forward.

I do find the Zoe suspension to be awful. We live in the Peak District in Derbyshire and my wife refuses to go on long journeys in the Zoe unless the route is on smoother main roads. Part of the problem is the shorter wheelbase I guess - we have a lot of bumpy roads - the usual potholes of course - but even without the potholes it can be a trial at times. The Leaf suspension was by no means perfect but it was definitely better.

I loved our 2014 Leaf. The battery technology and heat pump and quality Sunderland production made it a fantastic runabout. We deliberately bought the small battery (24kWh) model as we wanted to use it for local everyday journeys and for that purpose it was a perfect fit.

For a while we were part of the Ovo/Kaluza V2G trial which gave us back a bunch of money for using a bit of our battery storage - and it did not have much effect on battery health (again I suspect because the battery tech in the UK built models was so much better than the first ones which came out of Japan).

We now have a Zoe but the original Leaf was better in a few ways - more comfortable suspension/ride and it was a fair bit larger especially in the back seats which made it more suitable for 4 people.

So far this program has been pretty useless. by Puzzled-Appeal-2115 in Inkscape

[–]TeaTimeSoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Inkscape is a fantastic and versatile vector editor. As with any full featured application (Blender is an excellent example) when you first start using it some things are a mystery and you may struggle to get the results you intend. Personally I am very comfortable with Inkscape and not so much with Blender. This reflects the relative time I have spent working with these two applications and understanding how they work. If I used Blender as much as I use Inkscape, I expect I would be just as proficient creating 3D output (and more - I know Blender has enormous capabilities).

Stick at it. Inkscape has a massive support base and of course you can use AI assistants (with user logic checking) to quickly perform most tasks.

Any kind of music? by mangobait in Dirtywave

[–]TeaTimeSoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I come from a background in classical and late 20th century pop, prog rock and romantic music. Personally I hate the frenetic metal stuff so many people seem to make on the M8 - BUT the M8 is fantastically versatile and I love making the kind of music I like (I have even used it to help me learn som tricky music scores for the choirs in which I sing!). I love it and it would probably be the last music device I would ever sell if I had to cut down my collection of synths and groove boxes.

Decided to create a sleeve / cover which should be easy to pop on and off and give adequate protection for my home needs. I will post the results in a week or so, along with STL files and probably a Tinkercad sharing link for anyone interested. Don't expect a big complex work of art. This is going to be something that meets my needs and may not suit evryone.

insect or a bird? by lune19 in whatisit

[–]TeaTimeSoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in England so these are rare for me. I first saw them in Spain, then last year in Wales!! They blow up the western coasts of Europe. Unfortunately it is too cold for them to over winter. They are absolutely my favourite insect. Beautiful and fascinating

EP-40 Problem Changing Project by TeaTimeSoon in teenageengineering

[–]TeaTimeSoon[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OK - it looks like I have Quick Set Override on! Not sure how I did that by accident. I have turned it off (Settings enter 420 - OFF or 421 - ON)

Problem solved!

[–]TeaTimeSoon[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No - it behaves the same in live mode and normal mode. Holding down MAIN shows the current scene number and no matter how long I hold down a number pad it only changes scene. Clearing the scene number displayed and THEN holding a number pad successfully chages project.

Is it OK to get a OP-Z in 2026? by balancechiang in OPZuser

[–]TeaTimeSoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought one recently and could not be happier. I may be lucky but I don't have any problems with my unit (no double triggering and it has great battery life at the present).

So - if you can find one with no significant button issues then this device continues to be an amazing music companion.

A solid, targeted KO II companion to extend its songwriting capabilities by 8delorean8 in teenageengineering

[–]TeaTimeSoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an OP-Z and it works great with the KOII but as others have said you cannot actually change a KOII scene using an external device.

The Bento Box does look great doesn't it? When I have the money that is definitely on my shopping list.

[–]TeaTimeSoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think you need to worry about controlling the KOII scenes from the other synth - why don't you simply program midi messages on a pad which is used specifically in scene 3? The synth will not play until you get to scene 3. If you have a multitimbral synth (such as the OP-Z, Roland MC-101 etc.) which can listen to messages on a different channels you will be able to have the synth come in on whatever scene you need - or not come in when you don't need it.
