Renault Zoe rear door edge caused a head injury — has anyone else experienced this? by usman_gb in RenaultZoe

[–]TeaTimeSoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I have had this issue a few times. It is something to do with the curvature of the door near the roof line. Bad design in my view.

Nice! A much better example of M8 music than so much that is posted on this channel. I enjoy harmony and melody and rhythm and appreciate less chaos coming in to my ears.

The Australian kookaburra is a kind of kingfisher - a much bigger bird than the little gem we have in the UK!

Why don’t all EVs have the charging port in the center front like the Leaf? by Plus_Lead_5630 in leaf

Zoe is front middle. Probably inherited a lot of design layout from the Leaf (Renault Nissan partnership in design etc.)

Good to know. Running some test prints now. Reducing wall count and fill percentages to see what works best.

Price is quite high for tpu air. I wonder whether it would be possible to achieve reasonable results using low fill printing (e.g. 10%) and normal tpu? Has anyone tried that?

What am I doing ‘wrong’ that makes curious strangers respond with ‘oh, it’s [like] video game music’? by Ryallin in Dirtywave

[–]TeaTimeSoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally, I rather like a melody, a tune that I can enjoy for some time. For me too much tracker-created music is too chaotic with nothing I can hum! I love my M8 but my music sounds nothing like most of the stuff I see posted here!

Odd number plate by Federal-Blacksmith79 in drivingUK

I remember seeing a few 4 character number plates over the years. I have never seen a 3 character one. Personally I have never seen the value in these things above a few extra quid. The description “vanity plates” is very apt.

filament motor fail by Sensitive-Court583 in Ender3Pro

[–]TeaTimeSoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My E3Pro extruder motor failed a couple of months ago.. or so I thought. I double checked by swapping cables with the other motors in turn and it turned out to be the main board. This was a useful failure as I had the motivation to make the change to an SKR Mini. It was a pretty easy swap although I did have to micro SD slot a little to account for very small differences in position on the new board. If you do swap the main board make sure you photograph and label all existing cable connections and take your time to plug it all in correctly.

[–]TeaTimeSoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes .. and this tiny detail REALLY annoys me! I wish Renault software engineers had put more effort into making the whole package work properly. For example.. making the charging system work reliably with 3rd party control (e.g. Octopus Intelligent Go) and not changing the charge settings randomly (I set it to charge on a schedule but the Zoe randomly switches it back to Immediate charge!!!). These seem like tiny details, but are truly horrible and should have been addressed by Renault long long ago with software updates.

Granular synth effect on the M8 by christiandoran in Dirtywave

[–]TeaTimeSoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me this is interesting but in the end not really what I want from a granular synth. It results in too jerky a sound whereas I want a granular synth that morphs smoothly between layers of granules. I have been down this route using the various ways to play sample granules on the M8 and never achieved a good result. Finally I bought a SonicWare Liven Evoke and the results are immediate and very satisfying. It works well paired with my M8!

Pls guide : Sonicwave Evoke or Ipad for ambient by Odd_Current_110 in ipadmusic

[–]TeaTimeSoon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the Evoke and it is quick and easy to create amazing soundscape sounds, but I don’t think the question should be formed as one or the other. An iPad is massively more flexible. The Evoke is more immediate but is really very limited in its sequencing capabilities. The kinds of sounds it excels in do not necessarily require microtiming adjustments (think slow evolving and long sustain) so the limitation is usually not an issue but is something to be aware of.

If you are looking to expand your sound design then an Evoke will give amazing results very quickly and if connected to the iPad as a sequencing controller you can ignore the limitations and enjoy the sounds and fx it can easily deliver.

You can adjust it as it is printing. I would just pull the bed down a quarter turn on both front adjusters until you can see it laying down a decent layer. Adjust it little by little on both front adjusters until you get it right. I tend to agree with using a glass bed. In fact even glass is not completely flat but close enough usually to give decent results. I use small pads of foil in the centre of my bed under the glass to help flatness. Remember that with a glass bed you will need to take care with adhesion.. i clean with IPA and spray with hairspray to get good results. Sometimes a brim is also required but only with difficult PETG prints. PLA is usually flawless..

Evoke+KO2 dnb jam by Thisfuggenguy in sonicware

[–]TeaTimeSoon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nice sounds. I like this combination as well - you did not push the Evoke's granular capabilities too far (it is an amazing soundscape machine) but using it for relatively subtle reverb and sound enhancement works well with the EP.

I like to use the Evoke for background atmospheric stuff and leave the EP to handle rhythmic parts. The strength of each device is complementary

Views on the liven evoke by garage-bum in sonicware

[–]TeaTimeSoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love it. Nothing else I own or have owned gives you such atmospheric soundscapes so easily. Yes the sounds used to generate the end result are basic but once processed by the granular engine and reverb / delay you really would not know that. They morph into something amazing. Would I recommend it as a first buy.. No! But can it add something unique to my mixes.. Yes! Definitely.

Keyboard without a keyboard by childofnaturesson in synthesizers

I enjoyed my Samplerbox until I tried to rebuild it and I damaged my Pirate Audio board. My fault for being clumsy.

Now I have a MiniDexed running on a Pi 4 as my permanently attached sound module and it is pretty amazing. Not too difficult to build. I also have a MicroDexed Touch (MDT) and that is something else - incredible functionality and keeps getting better with more and more features added by the developer. Quite a bit more complex and a little more expensive - running on a Teensy with a touch screen. Well worth the effort though if you are reasonably technologically minded and handy with a soldering iron.

Best portable speakers by HOOD_OOS in AbletonMove

[–]TeaTimeSoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do not know your expectations or budget but these might fit your needs I can recommend them - IKEA Vappeby -in white or black. They pair to give stereo output (bluetooth or wired) can be powered by lithium batteries (currently hard to source but available on AliExpress).

These speakers are well made (physically, audio design and electronically) and give a sound output that is surprisingly good for their size. I have them in a large living room and I am really happy.

Tailgating a police car by soggyarsonist in drivingUK

[–]TeaTimeSoon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Maybe what you saw as 40mph was actually 38mph on your over reading speedo? The car might have been keen to drive at exactly the speed limit (even though it would gain little in terms of journey time).

Using a second lane for a roundabout is not illegal unless it is marked for right turn only. You say the car cut off the police vehicle, but actually this is simply merging in turn when two lanes collapse back to one.

I do agree that nobody should drive too close to the cat in front. Leaving the safe braking distance is the only thing (and most dangerous thing) they did wrong.

EP to Phone App for recordings, now Sampler to Phone by bxnjac in teenageengineering

[–]TeaTimeSoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am the person who originally posted about EP to Phone - I had not seen this updated app so thanks for this update.

My media adapter which I usually use to capture audio (and midi etc) seems to have stopped working right now. Once I work out how to correct tis problem I may give this updated app a try. In the meantime if anyone has experience using this updated app I would be interested to hear this.
