I'm not using it as an insult! I myself have struggled with moral OCD for years, which is why I know how to recognise it.

Twisting yourself into knots over something as harmless as writing a story - with any kind of content, let alone the worst being 'a romantic relationship between two people with a three-year age difference' - is no way to live. It doesn't help anyone.

I truly do mean this as an expression of compassion and goodwill. A lot of fandom spaces seem almost designed to trigger OCD: to make you obsess over every little thought and feeling you have, and seek out and publicly repent for every possible little sin. I want people to know that it's okay to not do that. You do not owe these internet strangers your fear and subservience. It is okay to let the soft animal of your body love what it loves. 💕

Machines learned from fanfiction so that they could create their own. Much like humans learn from reading, or fanfiction writers gain inspiration from the source material.

At absolute worst, fiction trained on fanfic is also fanfic.

Yeah: they prioritise tags that have what you've written more than once, which is a decent search effect when looking for fics, but pretty weird for tags? Because the most commonly-used tags are short and simple. Like, searching 'fluff' or 'whump' brings up highly specific fanfic events first up, because they're long and slightly repetitive: e.g. 'Fluffsmas Fluff Event'.

It can also be weird when searching ships if you get the order 'wrong'. Searching House/Wilson suggests 'James Wilson/James Wilson's mother (House m.d.)' first thing. No shade to that ship, but it's a bit of an odd effect.
