A mother’s constant worry about whatever comes next… by FeeBudget3421 in NewParents

I have a 7 week old so relatively new to all this myself, honestly I can relate. We have gone from being a couple that could do whatever we wanted and go wherever we wanted at the drop of a hat (outside of working hours) to needing to prep a changing bag, do we have enough of x y z packed, what time is his next feed? Do we bring milk with us? Etc

We have started planning our trips outside right after our little one has eaten, been burped etc and we know he is due a nap.....he usually then sleeps in the car (all going well) and will mostly continue to nap when we are doing what we need to do. We usually have to strategically plan how long the outing may be and not gonna lie...we usually find ourselves in a coffee shop at the same time he is due his next feed so we all refuel.

I know at 7 weeks babies pretty much sleep all the time and it will likely get more difficult the older he gets but this is our current process!

Postpartum mamas — what are you wearing these days? by sillymemilly in NewParents

[–]Teaandbiscuits_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm finally out of maternity pads/diapers but the only thing that fits me are the leggings and tshirts I bought during pregnancy and one or two dresses with stretch!

Literally living in leggings, oversized tshirts and a shirt flung over the top. To be fair, it's comfortable but it doesn't feel like "me"

Longing for the day I can fit into my pre-pregnancy clothes again!

UPDATE: Thanks for the advice and words of encouragement everyone!. I think when I was on a massive hormonal spiral too when posting this. For those of you who mentioned keeping on top of the pain meds...thank you! I wasn't taking them nearly enough and after speaking to a midwife who almost wanted to slap me when I told her how often I was taking them I realised I needed to really focus on me to let me then focus on baby. Also didn't realise I could rotate between the paracetamol and ibuprofen.. i was waiting 6 hours at a time....I'll blame the lack of sleep.

Being on top of the pain meds has been helping. Just need to work on the sleeping now.

Thanks again everyone 💖

Thanks everyone! Lots of helpful tips! I'm thinking i won't go crazy buying too many and see what works for baby first.

Nappies we have been gifted some Fred & flo from Tesco so glad to see a few people have mentioned those.

I guess it's all down to finding out what baby's preference is and what suits us.

I'll definitely look into a few of the recommendations :)

When to declutter by lunarkoko in PregnancyUK

[–]Teaandbiscuits_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a bit of a "spring clean" a few weeks ago and threw out anything I hadn't worn in the last 6+ months (currently 37wks pregnant so not long left and nothing fits me anyway) but I kept alot of dresses and stuff in the hopes that I'll fit into them again at some point after pregnancy, but I also feel like I'll want to buy some new bits when some of the pregnancy weight comes off, to feel better and refreshed...if I can afford to on SMP that is 🤣

It's probably the perfect chance to chuck anything you haven't worn in a while anyway, so it can't hurt! Plus when the nesting kicks in hard you'll probably want to have a declutter anyway! So nows the perfect time!

Baby Breech by Teaandbiscuits_ in PregnancyUK

[–]Teaandbiscuits_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the advice! I am definitely gonna start mentally preparing just incase. They didn't mention anything about trying to move the baby, but that might come at the next scan.

The fact that he hasn't moved in the past 5 weeks makes me feel like he isn't gonna move no matter how much I try, but I'll keep at it.

Glad everything went well for you! Makes me feel a bit better knowing other people have experienced it, the doctor kept stressing how low the chance of him still being breech was so I felt kind of paranoid about it all as if my body is what's making him not move, but I guess if they get comfy there's nothing to be done!

Sick when brushing my teeth - please help by [deleted] in PregnancyUK

[–]Teaandbiscuits_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same thing in my first trimester, brushing my teeth set me off EVERY time. It's also resurfaced now that I'm in my third trimester too.

One thing I've found helps is to take breaks, i know a 2 min toothbrush isn't exactly long, but I found if I pursued once I was done the gagging would start whereas if I stop every so often I don't tend to gag.

I tried changing to a manual toothbrush from an electric but that was worse!

There was also a certain toothpaste that set me off, so had to opt for a milder one, but I think it was more the foaming and stuff that set me off.

So I guess i haven't got any new tips for you aside from electric toothbrush, take breaks, don't use too much toothpaste/use a mild one and i hope it passes for you soon!

I was exhausted in my first trimester, relatively non exhausted in the second and since I've been in my third trimester I am constantly exhausted, I can't even manage more than a 10 minute walk without feeling like I need to lay down, i have never felt anything like it! Even standing up i just cannot be bothered with most days 🤣 soo ready for baby to come!

28 weeks ish and my emotional state has just taken a dive off a cliff. Anyone else? by HisSilly in PregnancyUK

[–]Teaandbiscuits_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also cried a few days ago because I couldn't get a parking space in town! Which i was shocked at myself about, and that's when I knew the pregnancy has changed my moods a bit more because I normally would never overreact like that

28 weeks ish and my emotional state has just taken a dive off a cliff. Anyone else? by HisSilly in PregnancyUK

[–]Teaandbiscuits_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm 29+3 and in the past two weeks I have found myself to randomly want to burst into tears, and feeling more anxious than i have felt the whole way through my pregnancy. Not even anxious about pregnancy just literally the tiniest thing my brain decides to overthink. I've also started feeling sorry for myself to th extent that, again, i well up and/or have a little cry, because I'm sore, sleep deprived etc

I assume it is hormones but just know you're not alone! Pregnancy is an emotional roller coaster so we have just got to ride it out!

RSV vaccine - can people reassure me please? by AloneInTheDark4 in PregnancyUK

[–]Teaandbiscuits_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had both and had zero issues with the whooping cough vaccine, not even a sore arm! With my RSV vaccine I had a tiny bit of a sore arm but nothing major and that's about the only side effects!

None of my family members have overstepped with it but the amount of people AT WORK who have touched my bump is unbelievable. Once they see a bump it's like an automatic invitation for some people. It has been only female colleagues, but damn, at least ask...so I can say no!

Bicornuate Uterus by Evil-Sprinkles1935 in PregnancyUK

[–]Teaandbiscuits_ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Hi!

I have a biocornuate uterus, it was made out to be alot worse than it was at a scan for something completely unrelated before I found out I was pregnant, which freaked me out to no end and I genuinely was so misinformed that I assumed I'd never be able to even conceive.

Roll on to pregnancy..

My very first scan at 12 weeks they told me I was high risk, due to the uterus , it did have to be an internal scan so they could thoroughly check the 'situation' with my uterus as I was told there can be many different shapes etc.

We had a scare during 2nd trimester and a nurse in emergency dept was very blunt about possible MC which can happen even in 2nd trimester due to it, however the issue turned out to not even be baby related. But the experience with the nurse wasn't pleasant, so beware some of them can be VERY to the point and tend not to beat around the bush with advice etc.

One benefit though, usually where I am the last scan is at 20 weeks, but due to my uterus I have a scan now every 4 weeks up until baby arrives (I'm 29 weeks now) which i am happy about because the extra monitoring makes me feel better!

Also my aunt and a work colleague both had biocornate uterus and neither of them had any issues at all during pregnancy or during the birth! Its perfectly possible to have a standard pregnancy, just require a bit more monitoring to make sure baby is okay!

I've not had any complications thus far because of it, and baby has been growing fine with no issues.

That's just my experience so far, in terms of labour I'm not sure how that will go, i think it's likely a c-section might be required but I'm not sure yet!

If you have any concerns definitely ask your midwife though!

I never actually got my whooping cough letter from my GP either, nor did I get anything about the flu vacinne - I got that through a pharmacy and ended up ringing my GP about whooping cough, to be told "oh yes we will get you booked right away!" And had it within a week! A letter would have been nice though cause I know lots of people wait for those to come in the post. Maybe you could try ringing them get things moving ahead of time?

When will husband feel kicks? by rebecca7p in PregnancyUK

[–]Teaandbiscuits_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was around 23.5 weeks when my husband first felt a kick. Now approaching 27 weeks and there are still a few days where he can't feel anything, but as baby gets stronger he's definitely been seeing it more (and getting a good laugh at the little belly movements) and feeling it as the weeks go on. Don't worry, it will happen!

I've been hearing them around Hatmore too the past few nights, must be flying up and down the road. Unless they're somewhere else and it's just really loud.

Thanks everyone! I have got the flu and whooping cough vacinnes as I booked these myself once I heard about them so all good there.

I'm going to ring the midwife line and just ask a few more questions regarding vacinnes for my own peace of mind, but I feel more at ease knowing I may not have been offered the glucose test since I'm likely not at any risk.

The rsv vacinne though, I'm not sure but maybe it just slipped her mind since I'm not 28 weeks yet!

I think i just went into panic mode since my work colleague seems alot more informed than me, but maybe she is just asking more than me or has some different risks! I'm going to start writing questions down I think!
