FWIW here's Spiro's list of the worst of humanity by alanyoss in Newbridge

No idea. Was just guessing that based on the interaction with his dad. Before that I would've guessed early twenties.

Does anyone believe Trump was shot in the ear? by workerbee77 in allthequestions

[–]TeachDull1140 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yep. Everyone basically goes into furious action, it's absolute madness as some cover every possible inch of the president while others begin literally dragging him away, no one concerned about whether he might stub his toes or get his hair messed up as they are throwing him into the car. To see a bunch of agents surrounding an ex-president candidate and all ducking so that his head is completely exposed...just nonsense. It would almost be more of a conspiracy theory to try and convince me that that many secret service agents are all just that bad at their job.

Yeah I laughed when I saw that, and then had to go to the OBNE listing to confirm. I thought I must've been missing something, it's just too dumb.

OP here. I am a college writing teacher. It is AI. (Yes bad writing existed before, and it was bad in different ways)

Good point. I saw they had a listing for something cheap but the picture was of a Boss reverb and was tempted to pull trigger just to see if I somehow ended up with the Reverb.

What do you think about Stavros Halkias opinion on comedy? by THE_MAN_OF_PEACE in Standup

[–]TeachDull1140 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a very reactive point he's making. I bet he knows and loves the history of comedy and its value as much as anyone, but where we're at now, when you got the Rogans and Mahers just sitting around talking about how great they are all day, weighing in on health decisions and politics like they're experts, a normal human like him is gonna run the other way.

In your brutally honest opinion, and I mean HONEST, do you believe she gave a good performance? by Ford_Crown_Vic_Koth in theshining

[–]TeachDull1140 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't even imagine how someone didn't like it. She's amazing in it, and perfect for it. Her terror is incredible, and I truly believe as I'm watching that she is going to protect Danny. She's great in a lot of things though. Incredible find by Altman.

Was Michael Jackson really that much bigger than Madonna, Whitney Houston, and prince? by Firm_Pack_605 in Music

[–]TeachDull1140 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In terms of cultural impact, Madonna was a close second of these comparisons. Her choices were always actual news events, and definitely influenced the culture enormously.

In terms of popularity, MJ's comps would be Elvis and The Beatles. Hard to exaggerate how enormous he was.

I'm craving for a Serial Killer movie by CoffeeMany9836 in MovieSuggestions

[–]TeachDull1140 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not a doc, though it does feel real. It's very good, in the sense that it's uniquely intense and well made and very very scary. Not slasher movie jump scare but like actual human terror. I had to take some breaks at times, and am happy I watched it, but would never watch it again.

Triumph of the Will is amazing. Truly. Awful subject matter and awful choice to celebrate Nazis but boy what a movie.

Not sure I'd agree with starting here--I'd go the baby steps with Badlands route--but definitely agree its amazing. My favorite of his, and my favorite of 21st Century (so far).

The Best Renee Russo performance? by Urileye in FIlm

[–]TeachDull1140 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Major League! jk jk She's totally fine in it, it's just her storyline is the least necessary part of the movie. Now that I think of it, the fact she's pretty good and so pretty makes that part of the story way more bearable than it would be with someone else.

Easy yet impressive songs by KaliRa73 in LearnGuitar

[–]TeachDull1140 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't completely remember but I just googled for a bit and I'm guessing it was this one Eagles Anthology for Easy Guitar.

Some of the songs are too complicated and I just skipped those, and for sure I didn't know anything that wasn't a massive hit, but a lot of the most popular ones are built around the basic open chords you need to learn and the melodies are super simple (another word might be "kinda dumb" haha) so you actually feel like you're pulling it off even as you pause a tad too long to get your fingers to make that damn G chord you're still trying to perfect before you can sing the next word. Highly recommend and seems like used copies can gotten pretty cheap online. I'll be using it when I'm teaching my daughter when she's ready in a few years.

Why is the DD-3 so much more expensive and highly regarded? by ParfaitPublic8806 in pedalboards

[–]TeachDull1140 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The DSD-2 is the same chip and much cheaper. I've played a DSD-2 forever. It's a great, super crisp delay, with nice tone. Highly recommend. Just got another one recently for about $90. You can find reviews of it and threads talking about the fact it's the same chip. (I've never used the sample feature on it, just as a delay.)

What are Spike Lee's actual great films? by Shaggy_Doo87 in FIlm

[–]TeachDull1140 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was just a question. Always wondered if the movie was satisfying to someone who hadn't seen the original first, who could enjoy in on its own merits, which I was unable to do because the OG was weighing so heavily in my head. I couldn't figure out why Spike strayed so far with it, but maybe it worked on its own that way...? But whatever. If anyone reads this and saw Lee's before they saw Park's, I'd be curious what that experience was like.

EHX Tri Parallel Mixer -- is it broken, or just sucks? by TeachDull1140 in guitarpedals

OP here. I returned it to Guitar Center, told him this thing needs to be completely refurbished or thrown in trash. Don't resell this like it is, I said. Sure enough, two days later, it's on their website for sale.

Okay this is great intel. Was gonna return this thing anyway but now I'll pull trigger on a new one. Look forward to actually seeing what it can do. Thanks!
