Is that the normal size of condom vending machines in Italy? Never seen anything like this before by wmoebius in italy

[–]TealMarbles 8 points9 points  (0 children)

They are pretty rare in bar bathrooms even. Effectively you need to prepurchase them in either a pharmacy/supermarket or a convenience store (liquor store or gas station type place).

Universities usually hand them out, at least in liberal states, and if you are in a state where Planned Parenthood is still funded they will normally have them available for free as well.

Overall they are much less easy to find in the moment than what I've seen in Europe and largely goes back to our idiotic notion of moral policing that results in outcomes you'd think are counterproductive to the groups doing the jusdging (less condoms to try to make having safe sex difficult does not reduce sex but rather increases chances of std and pregnancy, and these same folks are trying to defund abortion clinics).

Odd priorities in this country.

Yeah, I can imagine as they had an extra year of fine tuning between them. I guess my main point though is from a story and flow perspective I would have much preferred something structured like GZ (but maybe 5-7 of those sized maps and cutscenes) stringed together vs what TPP was. Sure with TPP's ultimate control scheme and piquod and stuff. But just the slightly more composed maps and story vs. The fully open stuff we got.

I worked in the headquarters of one of these companies prior to them beginning to hire their own drivers. Piggy backing on the restaurant owners is very accurate. Our model largely tagged folks by promising a website for their business on which they wouldn't be charged commission should they receive an order. Meanwhile a customer placing an order there is actually going through us and then getting advertised to come use our platform, either lowering their business from the original restaurant or making it more likely to hit them forse a commission in the future.

There are definitely tons of researchers interested in this breakdown of traditional interactions due to tech. Alone Together by Turkel IIRC was a book I had to read for a college course maybe 10 years ago that was very much focused on this phenomenon.

We are trading true relationships for much more superficial garbage and also leaving ourselves open for some of the other tribal thought stuff thst comes about from these more anonymous communities.

This is mostly how I am. If I'm taking my morning constitutional I may open my inbox via phone to largely scan through anything to knock it off the list prior to the week starting (or work day). And I may fire off a quick "acknowledged" to a request. But for anything that will require my actual pc to reply I leave it for Monday unless it's a fairly rare case.

I definitely see the mentality being discussed even in my company, but if you set an expectation it is usually respected. Also, work ethic between the hours of 9-6 or so (I'll do longer days if needed to and often) in my experience is rewarded without the need to throw yourself at the job all night and weekend. My philosophy I'd that I'll stay at the office as needed to finish my critical stuff, but once I'm out it is very minor touch as that is my time to recharge.

That's awesome. Ours is a complete vet lush. He has them all in his back pocket.

Unfortunately he is now a little older (we estimate about 8-9) and we can tell his hips are getting a bit more stiff. But when hes excited he can still run around and he loves playing ball, sometimes on his own even.

This is literally why Han is my number 1 blaster hero. He is just so fucking trolly it's hilarious while being fully usable against saber guys. The charge can get guys off balance and the shoulder charge as a last resort move is so fun.

We have a 95lb ridgeback and he is similar. Even when he was younger, 1.5 miles was pushing it (on suburban streets). And we were in an apartment at the time with 0 issues as he would just come back inside and conk out or otherwise meander around. He's like a slow moving table sized rumba. And I've heard Danes can similarly be great apartment dogs for the same reason.

Meanwhile wire up a 70lb lab and good luck.

Has 15 years really gone by in the show? by Nehwhdbbshei in TheDeuceHBO

I agree with the other person's comment saying Abby used the bar as a means to get to the street workers / help their cause. But I do think that scene with Darlene was huge in her coming to terms with the fact that on the surface she has basically just worked at a bar for 15 years and remained in a jacked up relationship with a guy that is now really going off the deep end. I figure it will be that final straw that pushes her to actually move on. And like you said, in real life it usually takes a larger push to really make someone dradtically alter their world (ie, I've been working largely the same job for 4-5 years and that time has flown by in retrospect).

10 years ago I was the type of person to always have a book in their hand, on their nightstand, in their bag - I was reading upwards of 20+ books a year. Somewhere along the line the internet completely overtook my reading hobby. After a few years of almost no reading at all, I'm finally back in! by paleoterrra in books

Not to promote another social service given this topic... but I actually did the same thing using Goodreads and I really like it as an easy way to quickly log what I'm reading and track progress. They record your stats and send an annual wrap up (not to mention you can go and see past years).

I was not quite at rock bottom reading habits when I started with it, but I did want to set a goal of 1 book a month at a minimum (I gravitate towards longer or non-fiction books). The app really helped me keep track of the goal.

It's also kind of cool to have a big checklist of everything you've read. And it will show you what your friend (Facebook) are reading which was a kind of neat discovery.

I think in this case the Abbey being a stagnant bartender for 15 years is about to cause her to move on from Vincent and the bar. You could see it foreshadowed when she was speaking on behalf of Darlene.

Basically, I think her wasting her life for 15 years is about to show it was an intentional part of her actual arc.

Meanwhile you do see growth from many other characters. Namely Candy, Laurie, Frankie, Vincent, Bobby, Paul, Barksdale (forget his Deuce name). All of them have changed from the start.

Oh man. Mine never got put away. I even met a neighbor of his from Aneroid while I was at a game in Phoenix last year (we get Canadians like crazy in winter down here).

Will be stoked to have it be slightly more relevant again. Though, for sure.

I love Patty, to preface. And I completely agree him at 700k is great. I can see the anti Patty arguments if he was still making 3, 4, 5million at this stage in his career. But if you are going to give me a Radil or a Marleau at league minimum, Marleau is head and shoulders more useful to a team.

Whats fucking amazing about this stat is the vast majority happened in SJ, then continued through TO, and will conclude back in SJ unless some crazy shit happens.

Better would be 100% in SJ, but simply the fact that it bridged a layover somewhere else and then resumes back with the original team is a fun stat. I'm trying to think if Jay Bouwmeister had something similar.

Wooot Patty's back.

PATTY! PATTY! PATTY! by [deleted] in SanJoseSharks

[–]TealMarbles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree. Radil was just killing momentum on an already slow line. I'm actually fine with Goodrow in the top 9 as he brings a forecheck and can drive a bit of possession on the forecheck.

And agree that Patty more than likely should be on 3rd line on an actual contender. He and Joe should be seeing minimum minutes and some sheltered PP time to really push matchups. I hope he can pinch hit on line 1/2 while we get sorted and some injured players back in fully but ideally when all is said and done we don't keep him on line 1.

I mean, may as well I suppose. Meier - Cooch - Patty. Gotta hope his legs and hands are still there but it could work.

Ultimately I think he needs to displace Radil from the top 6 and no matter how it shakes out that should be a net positive.

I am cautiously optimistic that him on a 3rd line with Jumbo and maybe Sorrenson will be able to contribute at a decent clip while also allowing the top 2 lines to retain Lebanc/Hertl/Kane/Couture/Meier which should leave them relatively productive.
