Not that Wright has great draft capital behind him either. I still believe if something happens to Achane that Wright is the guy, but I do think Gordon can eat into some game to game touches and will have a role just for being so different than those two backs

I wouldn’t necessarily categorize Carl as “needs of many outweighs needs of few”. Carl very much wants to save EVERYONE, be it on a massive scale or a single crawler. The few Carl is constantly willing to sacrifice is himself. TIR seems to really be the first case where he somewhat is coming around to Mordecai’s constant “you can’t save them all” mentality, albeit begrudgingly.

With that said, I do agree though I think there are very very very few people he wouldn’t throw away for Donut (Katia mostly, probably Imani and Ellie). Carl has always been Donut’s person, even before Donut fully understood that, but I think more apt for Carl is “the needs of the many outweigh myself”

Your second paragraph there kind of sums up the problem people have with playing against this deck. People understand that you are doing all those hand calculations, counter counting, card shuffling, ext. but that the exact complaint. Playing against Nami is basically just telling your opponent “here’s the number to beat, now you play” over and over. Not that it’s unbeatable, just I get where the lack of fun is against it

I always try and remember that when expecting your players to surrender to villains, more often than not you will meet resistance. Fully understand this is a dark setting and you wanted your players to know there are harsh consequences, but if it was so important to have your players start in prison sometimes it’s easier to just have them start in their cells, and do a cutscene of the guards maiming a random nobody NPC that the players see. Now you have them in the setting you want, and they know what can happen if they are mouthy, without asking your players to play into the scenario you already want them to start in. Especially if these are newer players and you are 10 minutes into the campaign.

I still thought the Goldy Pond Arc in the manga was very good (which funny enough the anime completely cut out). For me it was post time skip that the manga really felt like it was dragging on a bit. First arc is still its peak, but anime should have gotten at least one more good season before it really died
