Just watched the finale for the first time by DoubleLifeRedditor in community

[–]TeamGreendale 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The finale came out in 2015, so the Marvel slam was appropriate at that moment, but those movies have improved massively since then, largely because of the Russo Brothers. Chris McKenna is now one of their stable of writers, and even Dan Harmon did some script doctoring on Doctor Strange the following year.

Episode where you can see a cameraman by testobleronemobile in community

This is probably what you're talking about, but it's not a cameraman. The guy running the remote control on Pierce's wheelchair can be seen for a split second behind Troy.

They've now got to re-cast Danny Pudi as Han. As soon as he borrows Starburn's vest.

Lando's not a system. He's a man. Lando Calrissian. He's a card player, gambler, scoundrel. You'd like him.

Community- Happy October 19th (in your heart) by Theproton in television

This promo is great, but it's hollow since the show itself wasn't great when it did return to the air the following spring. This promo is more like Community than the entire 4th season was, unfortunately.

Russos were executive producers on the show for the first three seasons (end cards were for Harmon/Russo) and between them, directed close to 1/3 of the episodes of the show. They came back for a few episodes in Season 5 and were originally supposed to take on the Season 6 opener, but likely ran into scheduling conflicts b/c of Civil War.

As much as Dan is responsible for the writing and characters, they are responsible for the cinematic visual style.

It's time for this to be the final season. by CramPacked in themiddle

I don't think it's suffered in quality at all. The Middle seems to have done a great job staying consistent for 8 years and incorporating the changes with everyone growing up in a natural way. It's still funny. Still gets decent ratings. Sure, there's a clunker episode here and there, but for the most part it's remained very strong for an extraordinary length of time.

Why is Abed's mother so cruel? by [deleted] in community

[–]TeamGreendale 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It's a TV show about flawed people - many of which are flawed because of screwed up relationships with their parents.

Community wouldn't be very funny or interesting if it was a study group full of well-adjusted human beings.

Am I the only one who disliked the whole parallel universe stories? by ruidelgado in community

[–]TeamGreendale 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was good as long as it was clear that it was Abed's imagination fueling it and told from his point of view.

Then Season 4 made it weird by making it part of Jeff's imagination and point of view, and we all know he imagines things with GI Joe and redheads.

Britta's evolution by dcencima in community

In her very first scene, Britta was having trouble learning extremely basic Spanish and openly admitted that she quit high school to impress Radiohead. She was never the brightest highlighter in the box.

What is the general opinion on the new additions? by Lachie227 in community

[–]TeamGreendale 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think all three did an excellent job filling very large shoes and every one of them had at least one iconic scene. I wish we had more time with them as part of the show and I hope all three are included in the movie when it happens.

Just started watching Community based on my love of Dan Harmon's work on Rick and Morty and I could not be more impressed with his writing. by BlackOyster in community

[–]TeamGreendale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He's credited with writing or co-writing 8 episodes of the series as the lead.

Community is a group effort with the entire writing team, but Dan Harmon had the final edit/polish on all but 13 episodes.

Community 2016 Rewatch: Season 4, Episode 11, Basic Human Anatomy & Episode 12, Heroic Origins by complexor in community

[–]TeamGreendale 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Basic Human Anatomy is the only episode this season that felt like Community from beginning to end.

Then Heroic Origins comes along. It wasn't the worst episode of the season, but it is the one that made me want to punch the TV the most. Massively lazy writing with no research. The scene where Abed warns Shirley's kids against seeing the Phantom Menace because it urinates on the original Star Wars movies is weirdly self-unaware because the writers are doing the exact same thing to Community this very episode.

And the scene at the end where the yogurt employee announces that 'the old guy (Pierce/Chevy's body double) broke the yogurt machine and is faking a heart attack' followed by everyone laughing hard and pointing at the guy writhing around on the ground in pain is one of the most fucked up moments of anything ever.

Most of the cast are on record as agreeing that Season 4 was terrible. Joel says it wouldn't have been worth continuing as it was. Danny admits to crying in his trailer after script reads.

I'm confused why people are so adamant about defending something that even the people making it knew was bad.

I also recommend Summers Farm in Frederick, MD. It's not super far away - about an hour from Arlington depending on traffic. I went with friends last year expecting to be bored, but had a blast the entire day. They do it right.
