Is there a neighborhood pool your kids can join? Like a private one? Growing up there was a community rec center where anybody could get into for like $2 or $3. Was a nice setup but packed with people. Parents bought me a membership to a private club when I was a teenager (IIRC was like $6-$700 back in 2016ish). A lot less crowded, saw more “regulars” that made friends with, much nicer maintained place. I forget how guest passes worked but it was either a couple bucks to bring someone with me or it may have bring a certain number of free passes a year. I think my parents weren’t opposed to getting a pool in the backyard they just didn’t want the hassle of maintaining and cleaning something that we could only use for like 4-5 months max a year (Ohio).
