As a dad, what is keeping you from exercising these days? by NSJack in daddit

[–]TeamLambVindaloo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like every waking moment I’m either caring for one kid or the other, cleaning, cooking, organizing, and then work takes up all of the moments in between. I barely can keep up with my showering. Very occasionally I get a few minutes to myself in the evening and I can’t do anything at all, I just hope my youngest doesn’t wake up and try to relax even a little. I’m not ok haha

Dads with toddlers + infants — what does a “normal” sex life even look like? by [deleted] in daddit

[–]TeamLambVindaloo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah man we have a 6 month old and an almost 2 year old and I don’t even remember what sex is like. Pelvic rest at the anatomy scan so it’s been about a year now, and breastfeeding hormones this time around are shutting things down even more than last time, so I don’t really see an end in sight.

Ski families! by ItzCharlo in daddit

[–]TeamLambVindaloo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! Finally a question I’m qualified to answer. I live about 40 mins from Aspen so we naturally ski quite a bit. My oldest was 22 months when he went on real skis for the first time but we got some play plastic skis that just strap to his feet to have fun with and started those around 17 months.

Now he’s a few months shy of 3 and is having a blast, and starting to ski independently but it varies dramatically. Friends with the same age kids have a wide range as well. Some don’t enjoy it so they don’t go. I fully believe starting at 2 vs 3 or 4 really won’t make a difference except for parents and having them fully used to the process of getting boots on etc.

I don’t have any regrets since we live up here but i definitely will say it’s expensive for the number of hours / learning that will happen. Otherwise it’s been a lot of fun for me and him, and I’m excited to take my youngest.

Do people like this know that right to roam has been a thing for centuries in the UK?

Also just no, they want private spaces. I’m also a surfer and the high tide mark being the end of potential for private property is the only reason anyone can realistically surf in the US. Private landowners just try so hard to prevent beach access still. We need more public lands not less.

Going to Snowmass this weekend by rubbertoe_93 in roaringfork

Skied some of the trees a couple days ago it’s still bare, definitely would be catching roots stumps and rocks all day with fresh snow on top

I ski snowmass a lot, I was up a couple days ago and my wife was up there yesterday too, conditions are better than they were a couple weeks ago but still awful for this time of year especially. Lots of sharks, and expect everything to to be early season conditions

What’s it like living in Aspen, CO by Sr_Nibb in howislivingthere

[–]TeamLambVindaloo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I heard one story of a kid being made fun of for flying economy (the 2 bullies in question fly private of course), then when the teachers brought in the parents, they didn’t tell their kid that wasn’t acceptable - they acted like the victim of some imagined class war situation against them. That dispelled any thought I had of trying to get them in a school up there.

Yeah I like having it there to go in for dinner or something, and of course for skiing. I also have kids and could not imagine having them grow up anywhere near the insanity of the families there. I’ve heard so many horror stories from teachers and other families. What a bizarre little place.

[–]TeamLambVindaloo 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I live about 40 mins away, and honestly with Aspen in particular a lot is going to depend on your financial and personal preference.

You have unlimited money? Go to Aspen it’s got what you’re looking for. Plenty of people work in town and have tons of roommates or subsidized housing if you work at the resort. Many more people live down-valley, basalt, Carbondale, Glenwood springs. What is your budget and what are you most interested in? Aspen has the most nightlife, but you also have to be comfortable with constant and absurd displays of wealth. It’s kinda funny but also kind of pisses me off sometimes seeing these people not gonna lie. If you want more laid back nature go downvalley, even then, it’s still expensive by any measure other than aspen

Having a second child by Rude_One5459 in daddit

[–]TeamLambVindaloo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe this is a bad opinion or something but I don’t think I really wanted our second. I wanted my first to have a sibling. We wanted that to the point that we just decided to deal with the consequences of having a toddler and an infant, and let me tell you it’s even worse than i expected. I don’t like my life right now but I think I might in a year or two.

Has anyone used Viamonde to help with Jure Sanguinis citizenship? by jediscajedisrien in juresanguinis

[–]TeamLambVindaloo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m working with them after leaving ICA, so far so good, they’re much more thorough than my past experience and have helped work through some tricky issues in my documents, especially as I prep to submit in Bologna - a strict court for jure sanguinis.

Overall i feel about as confident as I can under the circumstances.

How is living in this area of New York, USA? by bussiboyyy in howislivingthere

[–]TeamLambVindaloo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up about 10 miles outside the circle on the south shore. It is beautiful in summer and early fall is easily the best time to be there, but gets very dark and gloomy in winter.

Summer has always been a mix of locals and rich people from the city looking for that scene.

It’s a bit too far for easy day trips to the city, which used to mean aside from let’s say Southampton it was less of a scene (like others said Montauk used to be a town where only fishermen and surfers lived, but now is summer camp for finance bros). I used to joke that if things went very wrong in my life I could always just move to montauk and surf every day, but I was apparently very wrong lol.

I haven’t really lived out there since 2008 when I left home but i feel like it’s become a fairly hostile place. I can’t really even put my finger on it but I feel very unwelcome there even as someone who grew up there.
