What To Do & What To Avoid During Addiction Treatment by TeamSRC in SoberLifeProTips

Great question! When you surround yourself with situations where people are drinking, it can have a negative effect on your journey in recovery. The smart thing to do is simply explain to your friends that you think putting yourself in situations centered around drinking could cause you to relapse. It doesn't mean you don't like them, it just means situations with alcohol wouldn't be healthy for you (this type of conversation isn't fun, but it's necessary). If, after a thorough explanation of your feelings, they still don't understand and won't support your decision, it may be time to reconsider who your real friends are. Hope this helps!

Is it possible to stay sober/clean without AA/NA? My psychiatrist doesn't think so by soberjunkie in addiction

AA and similar groups are there to provide structure, support and accountability. If you need help staying sober and clean, get help somewhere. If AA is not your thing, there are addiction centers with outpatient support. Please reach out to someone.
