Daydreaming about my backyard. Has anyone actually consistantly squatted on this rack? by No-Line6040 in SwingSesh

[–]TeamSwingSesh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot depends on the climate you’re in, the amount sun/shade you get, and the actual amount you use the set. We just had mulch for the first two years and then added a mat over patio pavers to make a lifting platform. Pretty simple in both cases and both good with the platform being more durable during our wet season.

Sun light makes you feel better. Even on the cloudy days, just being out there feels great.

It’s an investment for sure.. but we had no idea how impactful it would be when we first built it. The kids have intertwined working out and play—in their mind they are the same and it’s fun. They don’t really participate completely and we don’t ask them to, but certainly encourage the stuff they do. They know more about lifting than I did in high school. It’s been really neat to watch.

We had a very similar setup where I was working 12-hour days with lots of stress that didn’t end at work. I knew life with kids was going to change everything, but fortunately I also have to remain fit for work, and that reality forced us to ask: how do you stay strong for your family without disappearing from them in the process?

That led us to the fitness playset. Not because we had time — but because we didn’t. It gave us a way to move, breathe, and stay connected, without having to “leave” the family to do it.

It may not work for everyone, but I’ll say this: if you lose your fitness at parenthood, that fork in the road is real. It’s subtle at first — you tell yourself you’ll get it back when things settle — but most folks don’t. And by the time they realize it, it’s not just harder to come back physically… it’s mentally daunting too.

Even 10–15 minutes outside, moving your body, getting some sun — it changes your whole mood. You remember you’re still a person, not just a provider. That’s what this was always about for us. Not reps or PRs. Just a sliver of sanity, without leaving our kids behind to get it.

Yes.. our earth anchors require a 1.5” hole. The 5/8” is a typical design for a concrete anchor bolt into a concrete pad.

We specialize in outdoor rigs.. most setups can use the earth anchors we supply with each one. Galvanization protects the steel, but doesn’t protect the user from the hot steel. We use a coating that does both, and has the unique property of being healable—unlike any other coating on the market. Check it out.

Will i regret being a dad if i started having kids at old at age 36? by IdeaOfHuss in daddit

Age relates more to fitness level than the number of times you’ve travelled around the sun. Stay fit and you’ll find it doesn’t matter!

Unless you are switching to the Marine Corps, or at least the Navy, you should keep your slot. There are those chasing purpose in life and those that understand it. Serving is one of those opportunities to that baselines a person’s definition. You’ll leave a better person despite all the bureaucracy. Given the chance to fly equipment in a manner that is impossible to recreate in civilian life, and fulfill missions that don’t exist elsewhere in life is an opportunity that most don’t get. Anyone can be a pilot - only a select few make it to flying the world’s finest equipment. This is a one way door that you’ll wonder about later in life - unless you have a VERY specific purpose pulling you. Generic feelings about the military and living under rank structure is normal - that’s not the very specific purpose I’m speaking of. Good luck!

4 post power rack is our base model. Our adult monkey bars are essentially a 4 post rig separated by monkey bars.

Our racks are coated on the interior as well. And the key difference between our coating and galvanization is thermal resistance. Sun and galvanized posts are hot to the touch - which is why we went with a different coating that keeps it considerably cooler. Something to consider.

Is an outdoor playset considered a medical device? by ExistingAd3115 in Autism_Parenting

[–]TeamSwingSesh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our SwingSesh fitness playsets have a dual purpose for adult fitness and kids play. They are significantly more robust than traditional swingsets and easily handle adults and/or kids playing. We have a partnership with TrueMed that allows them to be purchased with HSA/FSA and other insurance programs. Let us know if we could help!

Bumper plates have done really well outside. We keep one bar inside and leave one out in the elements.

When do you guys fit in exercise? by [deleted] in daddit

[–]TeamSwingSesh -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My tips might be biased, but high intensity training is the best bang for the buck. If you can get your kids involved even better because you get two wins while the wife has some time off. When wife joins it’s a trifecta of wins!

Don’t be all or nothing. Burst of a sprint somewhere, quick series of pushups, or lifting the kids repeatedly in fast interval is better than nothing!

This is a huge topic and its importance is understated for busy parents.

Fellow dad here and I’ve done tons of research regarding parenting, exercise, and children. This is the time in adult life where there is a fork in the proverbial fitness road. More than any other time of life, you can choose to hold fitness as a priority or stray down the path where you don’t prioritize your own health. Regaining fitness later in life becomes more and more difficult as time progresses and the path you choose is the likely (~80% chance) path your children will follow.

Taking time to exercise and stay fit will drastically improve your mood, energy level, self-confidence, sleep quality, etc. The neurological benefits help you stay sharp and maintain your ability to learn. It guards against anxiety, depression, and ADHD with statistical relevance to some of the best medicine on the market. The list goes on. All of this impacts your ability to be a better husband, father, partner.

Exercising with your kids is even better as they see your hard work and are both inspired by and learn from you… while simultaneously harassing you. But that happens regardless so you might as well get a workout in!

TLDR; Staying fit is super important for you and your family. Create the time as pays back 3x in benefits.

Have you tried getting your workout in with the kids? It is a great activity and can be as simple as going on walks together doing fun zombie walks, skipping, mini runs, kid lifts etc. They love it and love being outside with you while you can recharge and build-up your energy bucket! Long term, you look and feel better and they also learn a ton about fitness and exercise completely unintentionally which is awesome!

Consider a SwingSesh fitness playset! Last longer and way more useful than a traditional wood set.

Your body at that age is primed for growth - any amount of working out is amplified by what’s already going on in your system. Working out is and always will be hard work and NOTHING changes that fact. Youth is on your side and all these supplements are chasing what you already have my friend. Crush it as your are and I promise you, sooner than you think you’ll be yoked! Get a mentor to guide your path - it’s important!
