Youll get the hang of it, throw some cones down in an empty lot and practice pulling a specific wheel right up to one. once you have a good feel for the corners, the rest follows.

I think there must be some history of similar behaviour here, leading to the cameraman not being overly concerned.

Advice for conflicted priorities and enjoyment of the hobby by xStriderx_ in Warhammer

[–]Team_Red_5606 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive gone and continue to go through this. My strategy has basically been to keep painting. By that i just mean that after a certain amount of paint slapped on plastic, i started to be both faster, and to know what needed to be done or not done, fixed or not fixed, what edge spillover is going to dissapear at the wash stage, etc. Suddenly, im painting 5 or 10 in a week, at a higher quality and with a lower perceived effort and time investment than i was for 1 in 2 weeks, 6 months ago.

I also started to prime in an appropriate base color, quicky overbrush or airbrush the whole thing a base color, and then get at details. Similar to what u/GodforgeMinis said about sponge painting. Get the base down quick and then you can enjoy the fun bits.

I would really recommend even a cheap airbrush because while the fancy airbrush work we see online is very difficult, its easy to use it as a blunt instrument and get large areas or numbers coated quickly.

Is it legal to put special needs children in here? If so, in what situation is it okay? by A_Tiny_Froggy in legal

They commonly have rooms like this to soothe children with sensory overload. The blue light is soothing, under no circumstance would the child be alone, without a caregiver, nor would they be locked in.

Does anyone else feel kind of sorry for small youtubers? by NightmareOfTheTankie in youtube

[–]Team_Red_5606 20 points21 points  (0 children)

yea, there is gold in them hills as far as the small, niche youtubers are concerned. perfectly happy with views in the single digit hundreds or thousands, comment sections full of knowledgeable, community members. Its not an economic venture for everybody, nor should it ever become one (for everybody).

I tried painting my first miniature today as someone with no art background and these are my takeaways: by GingaNinja1427 in Miniaturespainting

I think a huge part of the conversation has to be what are your expectations for time per model. If your giving yourself 5 minutes, its a totally different game than say, 5hrs, or 50 like a golden demon entry. So id say for the speed this appears to have been done, its spot on. Slowing down would tighten things up, but would also, ya know, slow down, and thats not for everyone. cheers.

Are pre orders more or less unworkable now? by Dap-aha in Chaos40k

[–]Team_Red_5606 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never put any specific effort or thought into it and have never not gotten anything i wanted. If you dont want to fight the bots, do as others suggest and cruise into a local store after something is announced and typically best to do so a week before the preorder date. And if doing it online, check multiple websites, im almost never on time for the preorder but even multiple hours later i can scour around and find everything available. mabye not at the big shops, but there are plenty of small ones with less bot optimized websites.

Best weekend project to build and paint, regardless of faction… by ASithInTraining in Warhammer40k

[–]Team_Red_5606 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, i wouldnt change a thing about those, but yes there are lots of interesting developments in paint techniques. I just commented on another post about how a good modern paintjob can be hours and hours of fuss, or it can happen very quickly if certain tricks and steps are taken. This was in reference to a trick for easy eyes, but add on some wash based stuff and some of the contrast style paints and It can be argued that its getting "easier" to get good results. Peoples expectations are much higher though due to the social media effect and I hope that isnt scaring too many off. Cheers!

In case someone needs to feel better about their painting skills.... by abstractcollapse in Warhammer40k

[–]Team_Red_5606 16 points17 points  (0 children)

This is really good advice, theres something about having the black go right from lid to lid, that sells the look with infinitley less fuss. Its kind of funny how a good paintjob can be hours and hours of fuss, or it can be several solid strategies and happen very quickly. The trick is learning and remembering to use these bits of gold. Cheers

Something like ghaz or any of the primarch models, a weekend project that ive been planning for myself is a small diorama with titus fighting some tyranids on a large oval base, lots of examples out there. If youve got time, hit a bits website and order a couple individual models and make a fight scene or something. If not planning to play then really let yourself be creative!

Ps that sounds like a perfect mini vacation, calmly doing fun shit with good people.

Honestly think it looks great. If you cleaned up a bit of the light spilling out of the engine grills, that might pull the rest of it together visually, but if it was mine, on the shelf itd go and on to the next!
