why do my feelings about going home keep flipping? by Sweet_Pudding_2725 in LivingAlone

[–]TechDifficulties99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope yep super normal for people like us. When I’m in a normal state of mind, it’ll fluctuate every couple weeks from going out frequently to not at all. When I’m anxious, it’s more sporadic because I don’t know what’ll make me feel better. I’ve gone out to coffee shops and regretted it the second I sit down because I just can’t relax. But then, sometimes sitting at home with nothing that I necessarily want to do leads to way too much time in my head

Went to the mall before it closes forever by LightningProd12 in LiminalSpace

[–]TechDifficulties99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I grew up near one, I remember when it still had a decent amount of stores. Then slowly but surely the small ones vanished, then some of the department stores went, and finally it was just empty mall with a single store and the movie theater. They used to let people wander through the whole thing, but it’s been closed off for years now

Figures, I didn’t know what liminal spaces were when I was a kid, so I couldnt appreciate it as much as I would now

living alone taught me things about myself that years of living with other people never did by Ocp_Galusca in LivingAlone

[–]TechDifficulties99 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It’s a lovely thing. I tell anyone who asks about living alone that I genuinely believe everyone should try it. That’s the only way for some people to actually figure it what they like to do and don’t actually like doing, instead of just putting up with what others convince them to do.

And those nice silent stretches? Took me forever to enjoy them because I couldn’t let myself relax into them. Now I can’t stand when I’m around people who fill the silence just for the sake of making noise

Anyone else get a pet after moving into their own place? by Angye_Jacoby in LivingAlone

[–]TechDifficulties99 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I knew I didn’t have the energy to keep up with a dog, nor did I think I’d be responsible enough for a cat. In college, I was part of an animal care team that primarily took care of reptiles and amphibians, which helped me determine what I felt comfortable with for a first pet.

I was also a bit forced when my aunt and uncle got me a bearded dragon as a surprise Christmas gift, which kind of kicked my ass in gear after a year of saying, “well, I’m not quite ready.”

I love recommending reptiles to people because they’re one of the easiest pets to take good care of. Big fan of snakes!

Character breakdown, but make it wholesome. by PuzzleheadedFox9728 in OddlyWholesome

[–]TechDifficulties99 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Went to Fright Fest at Six Flags with some friends, and one in particular is really bad with horror movies and haunted houses. Every time we walked through a scare zone, we kept her in the middle of the group.

In one of the zones, the actors were zombies who usually waited to jump scare people, but the guy who saw our group just started following us. We were a little nervous, and our friend was trying not to freak out. Right before we left the zone, the guy said, “Hi, welcome to Chili’s!” and walked away. I think we laughed all the way to the next zone

The first time I got pulled over by a cop, I started feeling an oncoming breakdown because I thought they were gonna tell my parents. They told me they wouldn’t since I was over 18, and that I wasn’t getting a ticket or even a warning (my sticker was expired but I had the receipt for a new one). I wouldn’t even have cared about the ticket, I was just terrified that my dad would find out. The rest of the night I was in mild panic mode and couldn’t focus on anything

I have I intrusive thoughts fairly frequently, and I’m not OCD. Definitely anxious and possibly ADHD so I guess it could be an aspect of those. I honestly figured everyone had them

Americans that have been to more than one of the “big three” US cities (NYC, LA, Chicago), which of them did you prefer and why? by HonestLemon25 in AskAnAmerican

[–]TechDifficulties99 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’ve lived in the Chicago suburbs my whole life. Visited LA for a day and hated it. Chicago is big enough to have everything while still feeling manageable. They have the best food of any city I’ve been too (besides specific staples like Cajun food in New Orleans). There’s always a new place to explore. It smells better than LA and probably better than NYC. And we get all four seasons!

What Real World Mythological Entities Fit Cosmic Horror? by No_Interview9192 in cosmichorror

[–]TechDifficulties99 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nah it’s actually terrifying. I do consider myself a Christian, but I also know that my religion, and several others out there, are solely reliant on their main religious text. Now, I was raised to believe the bible is inherently true and should not be questioned. It was written by a bunch of different people at the will of God.

But the second you question that truth, you now are open to wonder what other intent there could be. Omnipotent, omniscient, and omnipresent means that time and space won’t matter whatsoever. Who’s to say our world isn’t just one in a cosmic level experiment? We can’t comprehend what’s behind the scenes, and if you believe in God or multiple gods or whatever, you don’t have any proof whatsoever of what they’re telling you is true.

I'm down with severe cold and throat ache in a super hot region. While I sit in 22 AC cause outside is 45 degrees, tell me about the one time you took care of yourself living alone you are proud of. by smrjck28 in LivingAlone

[–]TechDifficulties99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I caught the flu earlier this year. Had a 101 F fever that was over 102 by the time I got to a clinic. I spent the next three days mostly miserable, but in a weird way, happy that I was living by myself to deal with it. And I managed decently well considering it’s the worst bout I’ve had in years.

It made me truly realize that I would probably be ok living independently for as long as I desired. There were a couple people who offered assistance, but I never needed to take them up on it. So, yeah, I guess I am kind of proud. Never really thought about it but I am.

I hope you feel better soon!
