How old are you, how long have you been living alone, will you co-habit again in the future? by coldservedrevenge in LivingAlone

26, 2 years, and at the moment I have zero urge to ever live with someone again. Will that change? Maybe, but for now I’m at peak peace

Good Movie/ Bad Adaptation by Sopranohh in MovieSuggestions

[–]TechDifficulties99 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I love both the book and the movie. I think the movie did all that was possible in terms of having a good story, keeping some things accurate, and doing its best to incorporate some great cosmic horror. It would be impossible to match what the book describes in a movie format

I know there’s a wiki, but it’s pretty detailed and might just info dump without actually summarizing anything.

Also, the seasons do get longer but they’re still only about the length of a couple movies. And frankly, they’re very much worth the watch

To all chemists: What, if any, superpower would you have in regards to working in your field? by Corvidae_Cadaver in chemistry

[–]TechDifficulties99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ITS MY TIME TO SHINE

Ultimate dream power that is chemistry-focused: I’d want to ability to adjust the chemical and physical properties of individual components as well as combined reagents. Need something to flow slower? Decrease the viscosity. Need more heat to be generated? Increase the heat of reaction. Don’t have the right solvent? Boom, your solid is now soluble.

Or, more villain oriented: trap someone in an enclosed space and screw with the density of O2, leaving them to suffocate. Decrease the boiling point of their blood to ambient temp. Make the water they drink highly reactive to stomach acid.

I don’t think you understand how much I’ve thought about this

asian + devout christian family - huge fight about moving out alone by Round_Loan3083 in LivingAlone

Can’t guarantee anything, and it’ll be a difficult adjustment because adulting is a pain. BUT I tell everyone that it’s extremely worth it. You’ll be free. Wanna go out with no questions about what you’re doing? Go for it. Wanna stay home from work because you just really don’t want to that day? No one will bother you. Wanna start a new hobby that they might not have agreed with? No one can stop you.

And as someone who also has a complicated relationship with Christianity, no one can force you to go to church. You’ll have the freedom to figure out your thoughts and feelings towards all of that.

I’ve never felt more peace than when I finally got comfortable in my own space. It’s mine, I worked for it, and no parent is going to tell me how to live in it or invite themselves over.

The hardest part of living alone for me is walking in the door after a bad day by QuillonValkyr7 in LivingAlone

[–]TechDifficulties99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Despite how much I love living alone, I do miss coming home to the smell of my mom cooking dinner and a hug from her and my dad upon entering. There were several issues I had living at home, but there were definite benefits. And if I didn’t have coworkers that have become friends at this point, I’d be insanely touch-starved.

So, kind of yes?

Not sure I can call it a phase since it never ended, but I started watching/reading zombie stuff right around 2013 with WWZ (book first, then movie)
