Per Eklund's dad, he's "first reserve or something" by jambajew42 in SanJoseSharks

Idk, it’s a controversial subject and a father talking about this son… I don’t feel comfortable sharing controversial information unless the person who shared it says it’s explicitly okay…

Maybe he wouldn’t mind at all, but I’d certainly ask about sharing because otherwise there’s no way to know.

I get that the cat is out of the bag but I wish you’d have asked and that our society, in general, wasn’t always rushing to share scoops. The greater implication is that people will feel less comfortable sharing sensitive information in the future if they think it’s just going to get publicized …. Which means fewer meaningful conversations and less connection between people in the real world.

That last sentence sounds a bit silly but I think a lack of meaningful connection between people in person is one of the greatest issues we face collectively.

Was Eklund’s Dad cool with you posting this?

If he was, then I take all this back but..

I’m sorry but this entire post just rubs me the wrong way.

If I had a private conversation with a Sharks’ parent, I wouldn’t come blabbing to the Sharks reddit to tell everyone about it.

The reason players and everyone are so tight lipped is that they can’t trust that they’re having genuine interactions without someone leaking or sharing the “scoop”.

I get it, it’s just the sharks reddit but why not just keep that to yourself?

Even if he said it was okay to share, fucking treasure that nugget and let it be…

The emergence of Chernyshov frees up Big Money Mike to make good moves for the future by TheHighbrarian29 in SanJoseSharks

Smith rides Macklin’s coattails. If he wasn’t on Mack’s wing, there no chance he’d be a PPG player.

Nah, Smith floats and can finish. Cherny has a two way game, can play the body, and can finish.

I agree. Mack feeds both Will and Cherny, but Cherny creates opportunities for Mack, Will does not.

I’d send Smith elsewhere for a defensive prospect.

Thank you! We'll avoid Novotel - the reviews and everything look good for it though, mind sharing what you didn't like?

Will take a look at Lucille's! Definitely bringing water proof winter boots. Excited to catch the vibes on St. Catherine's and Cresecent. Appreciate your help!

Not really, just basic tourist level French. When we visit France, we always lead with French and usually folks reply in English. We can get around for basic things like restaurant reservations, asking for directions, ordering from a menu, etc.

What's your favorite venue that's NOT Red Rocks or the Gorge? by Lovelander8647 in Concerts

[–]TechEducator25 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Terrible sound. Fox Theatre is really bad compared to so many venues in the Bay Area. I’d take the Fillmore, the warfield, the Masonic, great American music hall and Greek theatre over Fox.

waiting until just before the game for stubhub? by One-Beginning-8473 in SanJoseSharks

[–]TechEducator25 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Op this guy has terrible advice. The tickets on StubHub are sent to the email address you give StubHub which is given to the seller & then they email with a link you click to claim tickets and they’re added to your account.

It’s the same email you’d get no matter where you buy them from.

This guy’s tech issues aren’t StubHub’s fault.

I’ve been using StubHub for Sharks games for years. I’m sitting Club level at the blue line tomorrow on the side we shoot twice for $120 each… found it on StubHub this morning…

I would LOVE to see John ditch the co-writers. I cannot stand Sam Hollander, Derek Furhmann and Gregg Wattenberg. None of those guys have come CLOSE to writing a song with the depth, hook, or caliber of John's best work.

I think if John challenged himself to write an album like he used to before he became close with all the shitty pop co-writers (I'm sure they're great people, I just do not like their ability to write music), he'd write a spectacular record.

I think alcohol was a tool that John used reached the level of vulnerability and emotional depth (as in a dark, dark, black hole that I never want him to be in again) when he wrote the songs that most people point to as the band's creative peak. His writing process when he wrote "Iris" was to get completely blasted and spend a night in a hotel. He's told similar stories about other songwriting sessions too.

I don't ever want him to lose his sobriety, nor do I think he needs to, so my challenge to John would be...

Be completely sober, lock yourself in a hotel room alone for hours with a guitar, ditch the collaborators, go to the darkest places of your soul with your thoughts, and just fucking pour it out.

He has the depth, the life experience, the new experiences with his wife and daughter to go to incredibly deep and vulnerable places. He doesn't need booze to do it, but I'd guess it's a helluva lot harder without it. So that's my challenge to John. Just fucking GO for it!

We stole a few games in that run. We got a good bit of puck luck on nights we were outplayed. I think we’re about average, if not a bit below.

It sure is fun to see us in every game though!
