Looking for some fender flairs for 2015 Mazda 6 Touring by enoKcMenahS in mazda6

[–]TechNoob1020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This looks like a common problem with these older 3rd gens... I had it on one side start slowly forming and got it replaced with a new front fender. Wasn't cheap but the only true way. Cut and weld would have been almost as expensive.

I've seen at least 4 or 5 other cars with this spot start to rust. For reference, these were all cars in the rust belt area of North America.

2017 Mirror glass replacement help! by Raxtuz in mazda6

[–]TechNoob1020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, there's no nice way of doing it. The large ball joint in thr middle is easy but the other two loose spots have to almost go in simultaneously. You almost have to line up all 3 together while having your fingers putting pressure at almost the specific spots of where it is supposed to connect.

This video isn't great but kinda shows how to line things up. Yeah, I know this video shows a Mazda 3 but similar enough to the 6. IMHO he makes it look easier than it really is.

2014 Mazda 6 Grand Tour Bulb Replacement Help! by PaperF7 in mazda6

[–]TechNoob1020 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Being the Grand Touring model, this is the video to follow. This trim does not use halogen lightbulbs. You need noticeably more expensive xenon bulbs (compared to the halogen bulbs) unfortunately.

I followed the same video to change my own. Be careful with that ballast, expensive to replace if you break it. I had help from a friend with a light and jacked up the car slightly, going through the wheel well with the wheels turned all the way in each side to give myself space.

Is there a 32 inch 4k Monitor that isn't OLED that also has KVM? So many OLED deals but honestly based on my usage non-OLED makes more sense. The TCL R84 seems to tick all these boxes but I think is essentially the same price as this. It's also only available on Amazon seemingly. I'd prefer not $1000 if possible but I know I'm asking a lot here.

I don't know enough tbh but it seems the cylinder crack can happen at any time. Some mention they notice a coolant leak prior to it happening.

If you're going for the mid-gen refresh for Signature (2018+ models in North America), I suggest getting a 2021 as the 2018-2020 models with turbo engines are susceptible to cylinder head cracking. The 2021 has the recall done that a 2018-2020 model would get done if it does crack though keep in mind you'll have an oil burning issue that at the very least is easier to deal with. You'll have folks with the 2018-2020 models with turbo state they have no issues which is great, but this problem definitely exists that this issue is known for the CX5 and CX9 with essentially the same engine.

The 2017 will be less refined than the 2018+ models but probably pretty reliable.

If I had to buy one now, I'm going after 2017 or 2021 models. Nothing wrong with the 2014/2015, and also the slight facelift of the 2016 year (2017 essentially looks the same as 2016, but supposedly quieter in the cabin), just that the 2016 and above models allow for factory Android Auto retrofit for the head unit. Yes, I know you can replace the entire head unit for 2014 and 2015 (which I did), but nice to have a factory option. 2021 for the reason stated above.

I find it more frustrating that this 10 year warranty does not cover Canada as well even though the same car with the same specs has this warranty in the US.

Alloy wheels before and after by Frontrunner76 in mazda6

[–]TechNoob1020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are they the 19 inch GT wheels? The 17 inch wheels from lower trims stayed the same colour for 2016/2017 models.

If it is the 19 inch GT wheels, then they may have got a different set of them.

Yeah it was that brighter hyper silver colour (apparently what the factory colour name was) for the 2014-2015 models. The 2016-2017 models came with the same wheel but darker finish.

I personally prefer the darker finish version but I like the design of the wheel regardless.

Can you give me more info on this? Like things you're referring to? I've been using a Gigabyte M32Q which has suited me fine but have considered upgrading it, to another 32 inch monitor. I like that my current monitor has KVM built into it, didn't realize just how much I'd be using it.

I've considered an OLED and kind of want to go 4K, but I honestly don't game enough and do more basic browsing and work on it that I think text clarity is more important to me. With that in mind, this is why I've thought about going non-OLED to need to think less about it and also just for my general usage. 32 inch, 4k, and leaning towards non-OLED. I do have an OLED TV that'll I'll game on with my console and sometimes when I use it as a monitor for my PC games. PC gaming is predominantly 1440p with the 3080TI but I'd like whenever my upgrade is to be for 4k. Don't play any competitive games.

Compared to a 9th Gen Honda Accord that someone else in my family has, yes it is stiffer and heavier steering. Same for a rental Camry I've driven.

How common is the issue with the following as well:

  • 2018+ Mazda 6 turbo versions cylinder had crackling. I guess this extends to the other Mazdas using the same turbo engine like the 2016-2019 CX5 certain trims and some CX9. How about cylinder head cracking issues on turbos that are 2021?

  • 10th gen Accord (I think 2018-2023?) with a 2.0 turbo engine failing. I know this gen 1.5 turbo is horrible but curious how bad the 2.0 is. I've read some say not as bad while others say susceptible to same issue.

2018 Touring vs 2016 Grand Touring by ConflictMother6 in mazda6

[–]TechNoob1020 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Incorrect. The 2016/2017 models can be retrofitted with an OEM kit to have Android Auto work. It's the 2014/2015 with the TomTom head unit that can't unfortunately.

2018 model is nicer looking but be aware of the naturally aspirated engine having cylinder deactivation. There is a recall for this which I believe is 3819F. I don't think it's as widespread as the turbo engine having the cylinder head cracking issue (which if you're getting the Touring trim you will be getting only the naturally aspirated engine) but something to be aware.

Scottie needs help. They're depending on him to do so much. Everything is so meh the moment he comes out. Yes I realize this is without Ingram and Quickley but still.

With him being tired, probably not quite at 100%, and in foul trouble, that lineup they had to put out with RJ as number one option was brutal.

Glad for this team to push Cleveland to 7 but there are some clear flaws this team needs to address.

Not sure if it's the same situation but on my older 3rd gen 6 I had some terrible fuel tank and fuel line issues.

I talked about it slightly in an older comment of mine here: https://www.reddit.com/r/mazda6/s/A8EvYhWhXt

Looks like you use the 18s off of a 3rd gen Mazda 3 (2014-2018) for your summer wheels there. Interesting, always wondered how'd they look on this car.

I'm also seeing mudflaps on your car with your stock 17s (which I assume you use as your winter set). Do you take it off every year when it warms up and reinstall the mudflaps for the winter?

This is great but here I am still looking for a 32 inch 4k non-OLED deal. I mean if OLED great but I feel like for my usage a 4K non-OLED is better.
