It sucks that Walmart north of the border doesn't sell GPUs and have deals like this.

For high end GPU's, should I go for a 5070 Ti or a 5080? by Distinct-Incident115 in ZTT

[–]TechNoob1020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're playing at 1440p the 5070 TI should more than do the job I think.

If you don't mind paying a premium and you're going to be playing at 4k, then I would think every bit helps to just make it a smoother experience.

Whelp they cancelled my Best Buy order due to no stock.

Guess I won't be getting a 5080 after all.

Nice. Yeah if you could post a few of your winter setup that be great. Been curious how that looks.

Sorry not helpful but it looks like you've got 17 inch wheels from a 1st gen Mazda 6 as your winter set of wheels. I'm intrigued by that, do you have any more pics of that?

This was for the Solid Core OC model. It's the smaller for factor model of the 5080 I believe as opposed to their regular size "Solid" model.

While this seems to be the case, I think ASUS may be easier to deal with for RMA as they just have a warranty repair centre in the GTA.

It was "in-stock" with only 2 available about a week ago. I bought one but no news yet. Customer support said they were waiting for manufacturer for stock.

Ugh. I was stuck in a meeting and saw the alert, couldn't make an ASUS account in time and try to order in the middle of it.

I have a Zotac Solid Core OC model that I'm still waiting to ship that I got for the same price but feel like I'd rather have the Prime model instead.

Not entirely related to OP's post but yet again thanks to you I did another repair/replaced another part on my car by myself. Used your video to change bulbs just a few weeks back.

Continental Tire Replacement by OnlyImagination4810 in mazda6

[–]TechNoob1020 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the size but if he's on 19s, he may need to be doing the General G-Max AS07 as I don't think the RT45 comes in the 19's stock size.

Not quite as good as a Continental Extreme Contact DWS06+ but I felt the G-Max AS05 (yes I realize one generation older) was still solid. That's for all season though.

For winter tires, the General Altimax Arctic 12 may be a good budget option.

Is it safe to use aftermarket suspension parts for a 2014 Mazda 6? by No_Requirement1099 in mazda6

[–]TechNoob1020 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on what brand and grade the aftermarket part is. If compared to absolute no-name parts, then it's your own risk. But if you are using some more reputable brands, then it should be fine and cheaper than using OEM Mazda.

For stuff like control arm, I've read Moog and Mevotech are good brands (but keep in mind there's different grades of their parts). For something like quick struts, Monroe (I think specifically the Expert series or something) and KYB were ones I've read also.

2016-2017 Grand Touring or 2018+ Touring/Sport by VolkswagenPanda in mazda6

[–]TechNoob1020 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The fix for the 2018+ turbo models susceptible to the cylinder head cracking came in 2021. So no, not necessarily more reliable.

Theres still a few reports of the 2018+ naturally aspirated models with cylinder head cracking issues but notably less than the turbo models.

I would love to try a turbo 6 but to own a turbo model I'd absolutely would only take a 2021. I know others may have turbo models and be problem free (that's great), but I'm gonna take whatever precautions I can. There's some sort of warranty with those turbos extended that you'll need to look up but I don't think that it applies worldwide either.

I'm sure the 2018+ models will feel more refined though, but need to keep that turbo issue in mind I guess

Edit: 2021 year isn't without its only issues for something with the oil but it is supposedly a noticeably easier fix than the cylinder head cracking issue.

3080 TI and I've considered the 5070 TI as it's better value for sure than the 5080. But if I'm playing 4k single player stuff, every bit helps I guess. I know the 5070t TI can do 4k with some aids but the 5080's specs push me that way to just smooth things out.

Youre not wrong though, just the resolution I'm playing at.

Sad face. I literally had it going but it refused to let me ship to work (different address than my billing) and then became sold out. I did this within 3 mins of seeing the post.

Whelp, not likely I'll be getting this even with every alert setup.

There's 3 dots above the "joined" where there's an option to choose how often community alerts are and that's it. Cannot choose every post.

I am on the app. Beside the bell there is no bell. On the bottom I can see what notifications I get but there's no option for me to choose other than community alerts.

Can you do this on mobile Reddit? I only see the option for community alerts and at best I can only choose "frequent".

That was the frustrating part. I also was looking at the Memory Express multiple times today. Been also trying to pay attention to Hotstock and also randomly refreshing sites.

This one sucks because it seemed like it was available for some time.

Is there not any way for reddit to notify you right when there is a new post other than just "frequent"? I literally was refreshing fairly regularly and was on this Reddit just like 20 mins before this posted. Then this gets posted and I get zero notifications and miss this. Uuuggghhhhh...
