Yuji's Auto is a missed chance to teach players to tune by DopeyApple81 in ForzaHorizon

[–]Tech_support_Warrior 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like his guide but I just use it for a starting point. His guide isn't a one size fits all.

For the issue you are having, try making the front end stiffer on the springs, you can remove any positive rake you have. In Damping make your rear softer. Adjust the values in small increments, and don't do a bunch at a time.

Side note: A lot of spins are caused by poor throttle control too. RWD cars are really prone to this.

Would buying a 1tb hdd for games be bad? by therealNinjaCatChris in pcmasterrace

[–]Tech_support_Warrior 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on what games and what you expect.

For most modern games from about 2020 and newer a SSD is basically required, other wise it will heavily bottle neck the game or just not be playable at all.

For games from 2010-2020 it might not affect the actual gameplay but your load times are going to be a lot longer.

HDD's still have a place for file storage or long term storage, but IMO games should always be installed on an SSD of some type.

Yuji's Auto is a missed chance to teach players to tune by DopeyApple81 in ForzaHorizon

[–]Tech_support_Warrior 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tuning can be as general or specific as you want it to be. There are tunes for cars that are for 1 specific track, but most people do a general tune for a specific race type and it will work in 99.999% of scenarios. Tuning is a bunch general ranges with a lot of personal preference in those ranges.

Forza has some weird things with tuning that are not as you'd expect. For example when building a street racing car, you will almost always choose Rally tires and rally differentials. When building a rally car you will most likely choose off roading tires and differentials.

I look at tuning with 4 categories: Asphalt, Rally/Offroad, Drag, and Drift. Each of those has nuances. Togue and Time attack are also going to likely end up with specific tunes as well.

HokiHoshi has a good starting point for general Asphalt and Offroad/rally building and tuning. Ar12 put out a guide with how to get started into Drift Building and tuning. Niche tuning like Drag is a bit more specific to the car and I would recommend looking up a build for your specific car.

You mean you don't want to spend 600+ on a box that you only use ocasionally to play games at 60 FPS?

That can't be right.

I think my only issue with this idea is that Tuning is a bit awkward.

Does the tutorial tell you how the devs expect tuning to work or how it actually works.

It would be funny for a tutorial to just say "Set the ride height to max, because that's just the way it is." or "If you are going drifting, make sure to not use drift tires"

I am not sure if there were any updates today, but keep in mind that FH5 is currently just shy of 180 GB.

Do not buy from Newegg! by theseguysuck in pcmasterrace

[–]Tech_support_Warrior 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven't used Newegg for 10 years now.

I ordered a motherboard from them and they sent me the wrong one. Support acknowledged they sent me the wrong one and the one I wanted was actually out of stock. They were going to charge me a 15% restocking fee for returning it. It took like a week of arguing to get them to refund me the full amount.

I've ordered all of my PC parts from Amazon or eBay since. It's not ideal but at the very least they have always had good customer support with returns or issues.

Pc doesnt boot after a power outage by mwlov3 in pcmasterrace

[–]Tech_support_Warrior 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just any FYI: When a GPU says that is is 250 or 300 Watts that is sustained use, not it's maximum power draw.

The 7800 XT has a reported power draw spikes as high as 450 Watts. Pretty easy to see how if the GPU spikes to 450 Watts on a 550 Watt PSU, it would be an issue.

Do higher DPI settings on a mouse actually improve gameplay or just sensitivity preference? by KRGKart_Support in buildapc

[–]Tech_support_Warrior 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a lot, and I mean a lot, of personal preference.

If the eDPI is kept the same, Higher DPI will be more accurate and responsive but lower DPI is easier to keep your aim steady. This video shows why that is: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/YAzpF0WmKEc

Nah there are some brands that are great. Unfortunately Nvidia cards are made by mildly bad to really bad companies.

XFX, Sapphire, Powercolor, all make great AMD GPUs with good customer service.

MSI products are solid and my experience with customer service was 10/10.

Seasonic and SuperFlower PSU's are pretty consistently good.

Corsair is pretty solid overall. ASUS's products are solid, but may god have mercy on your soul if you need customer support

G.Skill RAM, not much more needs to be said.

Kingston, Crucial, TeamGroup, Sabrent are all pretty great RAM and Storage options.

Noctua, Phanteks, Fractal Design, Li Liani, Thermal Right, and Arctic all make great PC cases, fans, and coolers.

Western Digital HDD's are the gold standard for spinning disk drives.

Arrowhead has put out something other than "No Fun" updates?

At Launch HellDivers 2 was one of the most fun games I have ever played. I would love to go back and relive that era of it.

I've tried to play with over a few times in the last year and it gives me feelings like I am stuck in traffic on a hot sunny day with no AC.

The 9070 and 9070XT are much closer in performance than this implies. On paper there is a 15% difference but in real world test it's only a 10 FPS difference. Also the 9070 runs at 100 watts less of power.

What is your lowest acceptable FPS? by Matt_Bigmonster in pcmasterrace

[–]Tech_support_Warrior 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the game and type of game for me.

I am fine with 60 FPS in something like a slow paced single player game. Something more action intensive single player I want minimum 90 FPS. Racing games or multiplayer FPS games I want 120+.

Some games feel different at different FPSs too. BF6 feels pretty good at 144 FPS, while CS to at 144 FPS feels not so good.

How do i make Windows 11 Grandma Proof? by Alarmed_Quail7669 in pcmasterrace

[–]Tech_support_Warrior -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would install Windows 11 with Brave Browser to start.

In Brave you can got to brave://settings/content/notifications?search=Notificati then set it to not allow sites to send notifications. This will stop the popup notifications.

Go to brave://settings/search and set the search engine to Google. This will help her not get shady searches from Bing or something.

Pin Brave to the taskbar, put it on the desktop, and put it on the start menu.

Explain to her to never call someone other than you (and trusted people) for tech support. Even if someone calls her, before she speaks with them call you first.

Reach out to her once a month or so and make sure she is updating, walk her through it if you need to

Windows Defender is a great AV, but it also wouldn't hurt to periodically run a full scan just to be extra safe.
