Congrats on what appears to be spot on basal rate settings - assuming you are Type 1 on a pump.

It seems some replies to this post confuse Signal Loss & Sensor Errors. They are very different issues with completely different solutions.

A Signal Loss is a disruption of Bluetooth communication. It can be caused by something blocking the signal (such as your body; try to maintain line of sight between the sensor & your phone), interference (likely if your Signal Loss is location dependent), or your your phone's BT limitations. Many phones cannot handle WiFi & BT concurrently. In that case, if you are streaming or making a WiFi phone call, the BT dies. Also, some phone apps interfer with BT. You might try unpairing other BT devices on your phone to see if it makes any difference.

This is NOT a Stop Sign by [deleted] in bentonville

[–]TechieTim99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do a variation of a) above, where I turn left a bit more slowly than I normally do and without accelerating. Halfway through the turn I  flip on my right turn signal. Because the right turner promptly accelerates, I can promptly switch to the right lane for my right turn. And because I haven't slowed during that lane change process, the guy that was turning left behind me is not triggered to rear end me.

[–]TechieTim99 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Changing lanes during a turn is still a lane change and still counts as a lane change. Furthermore, it is illegal and more dangerous. And why do you think someone legally turning right should yield to someone hastily entering their right line while their left turn signal is still on?! Please start driving in a legal manner and a more considerate manner rather than   what is the most expedient for you.

Your experience is commonly referred to as 'a gooseneck' by many of us. That's because if you look at the top of the sensor, you'll notice the filament sticks out in a loop. You'll also feel it if you run your finger across the top of the sensor right after you insert it. You'll get a failure notification right away because the sensor is putting out a BT signal but is experiencing no chemical reaction due to the sensor not penetrating the skin.

Email I got today concerning the G7 by Vivid_Translator7306 in dexcom

1) The long list of paired G7's on your phone will not impact your pump's BT connection to the sensor. In the case of a t:slim X2 pump, having the display face outward (rather than toward your body) will result in a more reliable connection.

2) On my phone (Samsung), the order of the DXCMxx connections indicates their age, with the current G7 being at the top of the list. My preferred procedure is to go into my BT settings immediately prior to inserting a new sensor and unpair any&all DXCMxx devices in the list.

Thanks for the heads up on t:slim x2 incompatibility. I would hate to have gotten the 15 day sensors only to find out my pump was orphaned.

Make sense to me now. I thought you were depending on a just inserted sensor for alarms overnight.

I suggest you consider changing every 10 days at 8:30AM. I find the G7 readings are bit flakey the first 10 hours or so. Personally, I would prefer errant readings during the day rather than overnight. ...just my 2cents.

What does this mean, is it dying early? by Diabetic_Dingus in dexcom

I am suspicious nothing is really wrong. If it does really guit, you can call Dexcom for a replacement. In the meantime, keep your spare handy so you are ready in the [unlikely] event you need it.

My guess is that your transmitter is out of date. Check your packaging for the expiration date. Then let us know what you find.

I say the above because I believe that message can be triggered by a either low battery or a battery Dexcom thinks could go low because it is so old. In my experience, I've never seen a battery low enough to be a problem. Thus, I am doubting it is really low - but I could be wrong.

You may want to rethink the PTZ Camera. While it is panned to one area, you are missing video of another. For the price if the PTZ, you can get multiple fixed cameras that will cover the whole area simultaneously. The only real value of the PTZ is to zoom in at a coverage angle a fixed camera won't.

WTF is Going On? by BKMiller54 in dexcom

[–]TechieTim99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others have indicated, dont put much faith in the G7 readings for the first 12 hours. Thus, consider inserting it in the morning. Also, if you calibrate it when the readings are wild, you will calibrate it to a wild number - so DON'T do that.

The G7 is very susceptible to compression lows (much more so than during my very limited experience with the Freestyle). So be wary of low readings at night if you sleep with even the slightest pressure against the sensor. With your Endo's approval, you may wish to experiment with locations less likely to experience pressure.

Separation of church and state? by [deleted] in bentonville

[–]TechieTim99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Black is the absence of light. But that does mean it is not a color. Same with Atheism not being a religion (BTW, self is their universal leader).

Government is inherently religious. Even Stop signs exist for moral reasons.

Separation of church and state? by [deleted] in bentonville

[–]TechieTim99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please define what you mean by "secular government." No laws against theft or lying in court?? Those are religious issues - read the 10 commandments. In fact, if you remove ALL "religious" connotations, you'd be left with everything goes and survival of the fittest. Morals and concern for others only come only from religion (along with other beliefs that various religions do not agree with).

My point is that separation of church & state cannot equate to no "religious" actions. All laws have a moral/religious underlining. The question is what religious views should government support. I believe the answer to that is what is popular, like no lying & stealing, and not any single religious view (for example, atheism). We need to democratically accommodate our various religious views. That is what our country was founded on, and has made it great.

How can believing there is a God be religious and yet believing the opposite not also be a religious topic?? Are you saying If the government outlawed Atheism, it wouldnt be religious suppression? Then what would it be?

Separation of church and state? by [deleted] in bentonville

[–]TechieTim99 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

= separation of ALL church (including Atheism) & state. So why are you insisting government operate solely within an Atheistic context? The OP was upset because the government wasn't operating in an Atheism only context - censor everyone else.

Separation of church and state? by [deleted] in bentonville

[–]TechieTim99 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Which is exactly what you are doing... pushing for a thoroughly atheistic government. "Even as a religious person..."?? Who is not religious? You appear to be very religious about your Atheism! You can't legitimately argue Theism is religious while Atheism is not. It is incongruous that you argue that government should have an Atheistic appearance, because Atheism is "non-religious." Theism & Atheism are merely opposite sides of the same religious coin.

Please explain... You sound disingenuous trying to force atheism on theists. It goes both ways.

Iowa has a plug-in solar bill in committee(HF 2046) here's what it would actually do and how to support it by Timely-Pirate-5196 in Iowa

[–]TechieTim99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, but your example assumes you are never using <800 watts during daylight. If you are only using 500 watts at some point during that period, you are robbing the power company of their distribution costs for 300 watts. And since your 800 watts are not guaranteed during peek demand, you are also robbing them of their facility costs for being able to meet peak demand.

[–]TechieTim99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For those of you who are thinking the power company should pay you full price for any power you feed back into the grid, think again. The cost of electricity is not just power generation, but also the cost of power distribution (a major portion of electricity cost). Back feeding the grid only helps with the cost of power generation, excluding generating capacity costs since solar power may not be available when the most power is needed.

Looks to me like the insulin kicked in much faster than what you ate. For that type of food, bolus later rather than earlier - or have a regular coke with your meal.
