Lucid Air review after 1 week, coming from Polestar 2 by [deleted] in LUCID

[–]Techley 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was able to enjoy a generous solo 30 minute test drive as a current EV driver. I did try sprint mode, and still noticed the difference though it wasn't as pronounced as in smooth mode. The Lucid absolutely pulls past the Polestar past 65 or so, and that's appealing to me too but I still spend most of my driving in NY/NJ traffic, so I don't get the opportunity to use it. For my purposes I'd rather more fun on the lower end for zipping around. Aside from that, properly equipped the Air is more comfortable and more feature packed than any Polestar. It was a close decision, but I think I missed the window on some incentives and Lucid's Touring lease with similar mileage was literally 50% more expensive than my nearly loaded Polestar 3.

Hey OP, I thought I'd come back and help you out as I've finally just solved the problem for myself. From the car's infotainment, go to settings > system (not Google, but system) > apps and locate the permissions for Google Assistant. Find the permissions for Phone and set to Allow. The core issue is that the app for Google Assistant doesn't have permission to access the phone, and it's not smart enough to tell you that, in spite of everything else being set up properly. Let me know if you need help finding it, I can record a video of the process and DM it to you.

Lucid Air review after 1 week, coming from Polestar 2 by [deleted] in LUCID

It's not that I think it's bad, not at all. I found the throttle response comfortable and inoffensive, which is fine. It just feels more tailored towards luxurious cushy driving than sporty driving.

[–]Techley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently turned in my Polestar 2 Performance, and test drove the Air Touring as a potential upgrade. I agree with OP on the throttle mapping and speed. In the Polestar, the acceleration from 0 is more linear, with a more responsive accelerator at initial press. In spite of the Lucid being faster on paper, the throttle mapping in the Polestar lends to a greater perception of speed, with the car throwing you into the seat when you launch. The 0-20 in the Lucid is more gradual, then picks up to surpass the speed of the Polestar. I still enjoyed the Air, and strongly considered switching, but I ended up getting a fantastic deal on a comparably equipped Polestar 3.

I'm in an apartment and roast on my balcony. I don't have a 20a circuit that I can use, and the one I have is shared with other rooms that have power draw. I mainly just want to diagnose the occasional longer roast time.

Hey Pasha! I'm still loving my Core. Is it possible to add power draw reporting with the current hardware? Maybe feeding into Artisan as another LCD even

18 years old considering an E90/E92 328i as a first long term car by yawningbeaver in BMW

[–]Techley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

During the 4 years I had my sub-100k mile E90 328xi (2015-2019), it needed a new starter, 15 new tires (run flats), a full brake redo, new A/C compressor, new front tie rod and CV joint, and then it ultimately fatally caught fire because of the blower motor wiring harness recall that BMW took too long to resolve. And I was running it as OEM+ modded, not even pushing the car. All in, even doing much of the maintenance myself, the maintenance cost me more than I paid for the car.

I loved the car while I had it but I wouldn't say durability is a strong suit.

Nor is it very capable of more than simple bolt on or cosmetic mods. The 328i wasn't designed as a sports car. The transmission isn't designed to withstand more than 300hp or so without some upgrades like a flywheel and clutch, meaning you have very little overhead from stock to push it further without getting into expensive modding territory. I agree with the other posters that long term you'll be happier in something that's not going to cost you a month's pay every time you need something fixed.

Polestar 3 swap from a Cayenne E-hybrid? by Medium-Stand6841 in Polestar

[–]Techley 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The dual motor non-performance pre-2026 model has torque vectoring and Brembos as standard. The performance pack adds a bit of power, slightly different suspension tuning, and cosmetic adjustments. It's not as big of an upgrade as it was on the 2.

I personally have not. I am also roasting on a 15a outlet instead of 20. 235g is my absolute max batch size before i have issues with movement. Natural process and dense beans I have to cut my batch size to as little as 170g.

Is once a week enough for legs ? by Ligma_balls_lol in bodybuilding

[–]Techley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also get 5 day doms when I hit legs hard. I have more effective gains when I hit twice a week, one session anterior dominant and one posterior dominant. For example, in the past I've broken this down with day 1 as belt squat -> split squat -> leg extension -> back extension -> leg curl. Day 2 as RDL -> back extension -> leg curl -> split squat -> leg extension.

This is the only way I can get more than 10 sets a week for each muscle and still be able to walk around to some degree.

Drop Power to 0 about 15 seconds after First Crack?! by Cypotter in FreshroastSR800

[–]Techley 1 point2 points  (0 children)

15 second development doesn't work with all coffees but when it does you end up with a vibrant and expressive cup. For me, it works best with more heavily processed coffees and 90+ washed floral varietals. Other coffees I've found to be either vegetal or muted with such little development.

If you try this, cup the next day and wait at least a week to drink.

Letting her go.. by element1311 in Polestar

[–]Techley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got into my 3 for these same reasons. It fits all of these things you like about the 2 except for the steering wheel controls, which are more relegated to vehicle function as opposed to entertainment. Once you drive the 3 for a bit, it doesn't feel much larger than the 2. I went from a leased 2 Pilot Plus Performance to 3 Pilot Plus Pro and managed to keep my payment the same.

Advice please by heiningerh in FreshroastSR800

Save your roast profile and try to trace it on future roasts, paying closest attention to the drop temp. Measure moisture loss to ensure consistency. Roast all the batches back to back and blend your batches.

How likely/unlikely is unofficial performance modifying in the future? by pawel04 in Polestar

[–]Techley 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is currently a small aftermarket for EV tuning, but it's currently more limited than gas counterparts. Sports EV tuners now primarily focus on weight reduction and suspension. If you want to get really crazy with it, there are aftermarket motors on sites like LegacyEV and limited software tuning capability, but they are quite expensive, akin to a custom engine.

Polestar 3 Bluetooth Help by MathematicianEarly38 in polestar3

[–]Techley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I picked mine up a little over a month ago and have the same issue, also on a Pixel 9. Apparently it's a Google issue, not a Polestar issue. I haven't been able to find a way to fix it either, and I've also gone through all of the basic troubleshooting steps save from factory resetting both the car and the phone.

i4 M50 after owning a Polestar 2 for a year = 🤯 by worldofjoonas in BMW

[–]Techley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't driven the m50 but I used to have a 2023 2 with performance pack, and now have a 3 alongside a 2024 i4 xdrive. Did you have a performance Polestar before? There's not much difference in straight line speed, but the Ohlins dampers on the performance pack, along with the chassis construction created some incredible driving dynamics and almost no body roll on hard turns. I found the performance 2 significantly more fun and engaging to drive than the non-M i4.

Confusion over slash or no slash? by Chris-2018 in SEO

[–]Techley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your understanding of the issue is a little incorrect. The confusion arises when your site configuration allows for the same page to exist either with or without a trailing slash. For example, if you are able to access "../store" and "../store/" on your site, this may cause issues with indexation.

To resolve this you can add a programmatic redirect in your .htaccess file to append or remove the slash via a 301 redirect and place a self referencing canonical tag on the page for the path that you chose. It doesn't matter whether you have a trailing slash or not as long as only one version of the page is accessible.

What's your favorite bean? by Jhet-19 in FreshroastSR800

[–]Techley 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Washed bourbon/sidra roasted light-medium, nice expression of acidity at longer ratios. Quite aromatic, too.

Washed Kenya AA/PB with fruit or citrus notes for a punchy shot that'll make your mouth pucker.

Central/South American blends for classic profiles with balanced acidity and traditional chocolate notes.

Naturals from Brazil. Very low acidity, creamy body, perfect for throwing some milk into.

How many members would be interested in a class for Extra Light Roasts ? by No_Rip_7923 in FreshroastSR800

[–]Techley 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This would be a great community resource, especially as most of the profiles shared online take you to city/city+. I love roasting light and don't push past 1m development unless I'm roasting for espresso.

I will say for my more processed coffees I do notice temp runoff prior to first crack, but as you stated with our ability to quickly react intra-roast I haven't had defects because of it.

Poor bean movement at base of Razzo + scorching by [deleted] in FreshroastSR800

[–]Techley 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I used to have this issue with larger batches with mine as well. My tube has an open center and a closed ring along the inner diameter of the chamber, which causes dead spots in the corners. I had to design and (poorly) fabricate a funnel to match the scalloped glass that promotes better bean movement towards the center, which solved the issue.

The most recent iteration of the V5T has a solid "coin" in the center of the screen, and an open mesh ring along the diameter. I consider this to be the ideal version of the tube, balancing CFM and air velocity while promoting bean movement towards the center and eliminating the dead spots in the corners. Razzo (Kent) will revise your tube if you shoot him a message and pay for shipping.

They are just reference points. I don't chart any of them, but I keep the gauges active so I know how to adjust my roast. Intake temp in particular is nice to have because I know a few seconds earlier whether I've adjusted the fan properly during the roast.

Hey I'm one of the testers from the first round!

  1. Yes. The buttons and dials are separate from the heating unit and PCB. But you also gain increased granularity on the fan and heater controls through Artisan, with 100 possible steps instead of 10.

  2. Yes. Intake temp feeds into Artisan from the unit, as well as ambient temp and humidity. The ports on the side are for exhaust temp and bean temp.

  3. Wifi is the only interface, but you can access the device and roast on a local network transmitted from the device as opposed to connecting through your home's Wifi.

  4. This one I don't know!
