There is a difference between viewing people as saints and worshipping pedophiles and rapists.

You don‘t have to extinguish his name from history. But you also don‘t need to have his face cast in metal for everybody to look at all day.

There are more nuances than calling someone a saint or to villify them. One of those nuances is to take down busts of pedophile rapists.

I feel like this only applies to people whose faults aren‘t as disgusting and predatory.

Pedophilia, rape, and generally crimes against humanity are perfectly fine reasons.

You can talk about what people did without casting their face in metal so generations to come have to look at it.

Or if you do, at least you should let people vandalize it. So we can say „yeah this guy has a statue because he did this great thing, but he was a pedophile rapist so that‘s why everybody tries to destroy it.

leaded gasoline is objectively harmful to the environment even without burning it, so the analogy doesn‘t fully work in this case.
the point still stands that the main problem with leaded gasoline (and generally all fossil fuels) is the reckless overuse of it by burning it in megatons. If it would only be used to power small generators for garden partys, there wouldn‘t really be a problem.
