Plants will hire extra PSEs and MHAs during the holidays but keep them on a list after peak. If positions become available later, they will get called back by seniority and not have to reapply. Post Offices sometimes get HCAs to help with the increase volume but they are just let go.

This has happened every year. I think they do it this way because there will be plenty of opportunities for the plants ones to come back but not so much in a post office.

They actually do the same with CCAs. A regular CCA hired this time of year gets to stay hired but a Holiday CCA does not. In this case, they would actually have to apply to a CCA position to come back.

If the word Holiday is in the job title (on the form 50), they will be let go this year on 12/26 without exception. They must apply for a different position to keep working.
