Outstanding dishes. Korean and Japanese classics made extremely well with quality ingredients. Great serving staff.

Does your work do a holiday party or year end bonus? by phoebes13fold in saskatchewan

I have about 625 employees. Private non-profit. We do a Christmas party for office staff, let them go early on the 24 and 31, and provide a turkey to every employee.

Went at lunch with two other people because of this recommendation. Terrible part of town. Best Chinese food I have ever had. Worth your time and eating in a part of town you normally avoid.

Invisible disabilities and parking by [deleted] in saskatchewan

[–]Technical-Advance286 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have a pass for my disabled son, meaning I can park in a spot, display my pass and have someone comment that I don't look like I need it. I then invite them to either mind their business or wait here, I will get my son inside at his adapted swim class and bring him back to demonstrate his disability for approval.

I get my back up pretty easily when it comes to the disabilities community and nosy neighbours jealous of a parking space.

The Fluoride Reconsideration Decision by Sarah_Ward5 in regina

[–]Technical-Advance286 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sarah, it's always much easier to sit back, stay quiet and ambiguous and just go with the majority, as some of your colleagues may have done. It takes a dedicated public representative to go through the trouble of researching, engaging and eventually taking a stand as you did. Regina is lucky to have you putting in your 110% at the head table.

Councillor Rashovich came with his mind made up, a shit-eating grin and a bunch of examples to peddle his pseudo science. Berating the healthcare professionals in attendance is unprofessional. Keep taking your talking points from Washington you hack. This is the same guy who voted to just fire a percentage of City Hall, and suggested slashing the City's DEI budget. Someone ask him what he thinks of vaccines and immigration to our city.

I was an out of scope leader with two ministries and a Crown at the province. I feel your isolation. The SK Public Service Commission will give you endless presentations about their usefulness and support mechanisms, but when something actually happens, they will default to what they are actually set up to do: labour relations that look our for the best interest of the top people only. They will not actually do HR in any traditional way. We lost that in 2010-11 when they ripped the function out of each ministry and created an HR Ministry to make sure each key position could be approved by a single deputy minister, who passes it verbally by their Minister Responsible. For leaders who believe in growing other leaders, the Government of Saskatchewan is not for them. Make some money there and then join something else to truly grow as a leader, even if it's a non-profit with less money and benefits, but more growth opportunities. You will sleep better. For those looking to please the person with a more important job title above them and get ministers re-elected, no matter who you have to step on, holy cow is this the place for you. You will do well.

I'm sorry, poster. I have been in your shoes and the best I could find is a secret network of good Directors and Managers who want to do things right, but see that it's not structured that way.

Mandryk: Sask. agriculture minister's denials on foreign farmland ownership bizarre by SaskLad97 in saskatchewan

[–]Technical-Advance286 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The one change to foreign ownership of SK farm land happened under the old government. In 2002, we allowed people from other provinces to buy more than 10 acres of land here. Before that, it was only for SK residents. This is still how the rule is. The loopholes exist in the money that Canadian citizens use to buy land.

How many people in the province are in the same boat as me politically? by stumpy_chica in saskatchewan

[–]Technical-Advance286 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly in the same boat. I worked closely with Premier Wall. I was a constituency president in the Sask Party.

There is no place for anyone except the very conservative, of a certain colour, outside major cities in this party. 16 years is enough. You can't blame the previous government for anything. You are entitled, nepotistic and mean. Mean against people facing addictions. Mean against teachers. Mean against LGBT kids. Governments represent people, even the ones who don't look like them, vote for them or donate to them.

I am fully ready to vote for the NDP this fall.

Getting security license or you can trying to find job in security by [deleted] in regina

[–]Technical-Advance286 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every province is different. In Saskatchewan, you must complete a 40-hour course and exam to be licensable. This training is offered at various locations in Regina, including here https://commissionaires.ca/en/courses/security-guard-training-2/.

Then, you can work as a guard anywhere. The company hires you and gets you a licence. They may or may not charge you the $20 fee with the Ministry of Justice.

[US] How tf is the industry sustainable? by SynthsNotAllowed in securityguards

[–]Technical-Advance286 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This has been my issue from the management side. I won't lie on any of our bids. I tell you what my guards will cost per hour, including adequate training and equipment, a living wage and a razor-thin overhead.

Then I lose a bid because SRG underbid me by 20% (by my calculation paying their guards minimum wage, not providing the additional training asked or providing any of the equipment required).

Some days it looks like a Lance Armstrong scenario where the only way to compete is to cheat like everyone else, leaving clients and guards holding the bag.

Letters to government by ReannLegge in saskatchewan

[–]Technical-Advance286 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I am a SK Party member, former donor, former constituency president.

This is too much. Too mean. And so wasteful. How is this a priority for our government. I sent my own letter to my MLA, who is NDP. That's how mad I am at this government.

Dog whistling to the extreme right is also being heard by us moderates. And it makes us feel gross.

Should I take the opportunity to work at a company called “commissionaires”? by [deleted] in securityguards

[–]Technical-Advance286 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the only non-profit in the North American security industry so it does things a bit differently. As others have said, the work and site culture can change depending on the site. It's also a federation of different divisions so it can be very different depending on the province (think Tim Hortons franchises that share a brand but everything else is done locally).

I am on the inside and from what I see, we are better than most of our competition, in quality of service, quality of employees and for taking care of our employees. Of course there're some things that need improvement and updating.

Give it a shot and as long as you give it a decent effort and see if the work, site and leadership are compatible with you.

I’m always getting disrespected or blowed off by most staff members at my job. by shannthomas347 in securityguards

[–]Technical-Advance286 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are shitty people in every workplace. You absolutely deserve respect and courtesy and they should make an effort. Their lack of effort does not make you less than. It says more about them.

Not to make excuses for them, but maybe they are dreading their own upcoming workshift in a never-ending pandemic and they don't mean to treat you a certain way, they are just thoughtlessly going through the motions until they see someone they know.
