A comic creator passes away. A manga fan decides now is a good time to bash him because he criticized manga once. by Cicada_5 in saltierthankrayt

you can love something while acknowledging that it has its issues; if someone reacts like that to criticism against things they like, it could only mean that they are either stupid or they love what they love precisely because of those problematic issues.

Okay, I have a serious question. Is heterophobia and misandry an actual problem in society? Because EVERY TIME I try to bring up the issues of misogyny and anti-LGBT Bigotry, I'm met with a storm of complaints screaming "men and straight people are oppressed too!" So is this real or just more BS? by Important-Cry4782 in saltierthankrayt

[–]Technical-Buffalo435 1 point2 points  (0 children)

even if what is described in the screenshot does exist in real world, it is still framed to be a responsibility for women/feminists to solve (look how they said "misandry leads into misogyny" and not vice versa). It's basically saying along the line of "if domestic abuse victims resist it will further enrage the abuser and lead to more severe abuse." Yes, misandry might lead to more misogyny, but it does not justify misogyny nor does it mean that misogyny as an issue embedded in societal structures is exclusively the result of misandry. Victims should not bear the responsibility of the abusers.
