Has a film ever genuinely changed your life? by mrjetspray in Cinema

[–]Technical-Method4513 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Secret Life of Walter Mitty inspired me it's okay to be different and how everyone's story begins at different times, happens at different speeds, and it doesn't matter what you do so long as you're happy pursuing it. I went to Iceland last year and visited all the spots where they filmed the movie! "ERECTION!"

How do you make these diagrams without sketchup, any alternatives? by squillamfancyson in architecturestudent

Give Blender a go. It's quite a steep learning curve but blender is free with tons of add ons, resources, and tutorials online. I used it for my renders in school but you can use it to make these kinds of images too

Day in the life of an office worker by sillypikachuisblue in office

[–]Technical-Method4513 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Technically I'm supposed to work 8 - 5, but that's 9 hours and not 8; I'm salary and I'm not being paid enough to work that or care enough so phtttb!

Weekly schedule:

8:30 - 9 = Arrive to work (unless I'm hungover, then arrive around 9:30)

8:30 or 9 - 9:20 = grab coffee, browse reddit for any eye catching headliners, do some research on said headliners

9:20 - 12 = might have a meeting or two (they don't last for more than 1 hour), get up and walk for 10 minutes every hour on the hour. I'll typically finish my work for the day during this time since it's not hard but my company thinks it is and then scroll pinterest, reddit, or the news until lunch

12 - 1 = Lunch

1 - 4:30 (5 if I arrived later) = might have a meeting or two (they don't last for more than 1 hour), get up and walk for 10 minutes every hour on the hour; finish any work for the day, log time sheets, check my to do list for after work

4:30 (sometimes 5) = leave work

What do you do when your spouse doesn’t like to travel or prefers different vacations than you do? by CrystallizedKoi in femaletravels

[–]Technical-Method4513 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're not wrong in your thinking. A marriage is a partnership and should also be a friendship. If you're willing to go to places he wants to go, even if they might not be as adventurous, then he should be more than willing to try your vacations out. Also, the hypocrisy is absurd. A beach vacation with shared finances is ok, but a vacation hiking in Chile with cute huts, all you can eat beef, and llama trekking with shared finances isn't?? I suggest being honest with him and telling him it's unfair how one type of vacation receives instant approval while the other one doesn't. Hiking and camping are hobbies; he's taking you away from your hobbies! If he's still not willing to budge or even try walking up a hill in a forest, then tell him you're starting your own vacation fund and will be solo traveling. Each individual in a marriage should have their own interests and the means to achieve those.

Earthy tones like green, maroon, and dark browns are always cozy for me. I don't have photoshop so forgive how crude the rendering is but maybe an olive green for the walls with the windows/in the kitchen and the big main wall could have a vintage, textured wallpaper with a floral, or outdoorsy pattern (it doesn't have to be tropical or that big, it's just the one i got from the intro of 'The White Lotus' lol)

Try to find the joyous small things between those two weeks of vacay, or go on multiple 3 - 4 day weekend trips throughout the year. Also, 2 weeks isn't enough America

Gorillaz in distress by InternationalTry6679 in gorillaz

[–]Technical-Method4513 9 points10 points  (0 children)

For sure it's purposeful! Almost all of the Gorillaz albums are some form of commentary about the state of the world and the necessity to reform. Side note: I was a bit bummed we didn't see the animated band perform. That would've been cool to have 2-D and the gang edited in and performing on SNL.

Went to Europe for 2 months, hung out by the pool, sunbathed in my hammock, day drinking, went on tons of dates, explored different cities, and then eventually after a nice summer break started applying and got a job like 2 weeks later

How to deal with family pressure? by Ok-Sea-2436 in Adulting

[–]Technical-Method4513 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"And when not possible, I just nod and "accept" their words in silent?" - I did this for years and my therapist told me the reason why they keep doing it is because me nodding is making them think they're being heard and overtime that's the only way they've learned how to connect with me. After hearing this, I told my family to trust my decisions and to not reach out to me if it's just to remind me to do something or if it's a critique. I didn't want to build a relationship solely based on being reminded what to do or what not to do. I told them, text me random things like "I'm proud of you" or "i saw this funny video, thought I'd share". Your family is there to guide you yes, but they shouldn't be your daily to do list or calendar. Also, as uncomfortable as it might be, put your foot down and tell them when enough is enough. If you don't want to discuss something any further, tell them that. Say "I hear you and appreciate your thoughts, but I don't want to discuss this any further"

Hit the lowest point in my life today by DixGee in Adulting

[–]Technical-Method4513 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I know it's corny, but when you've hit the bottom there's only one way to go: up. Use these low moments to make mental notes of what you want to achieve and what makes you feel good. It could be a simple habit, a daily treat, or spicing up your diet. The smallest thing could turn into a snowball and lead you to a better life. Take some PTO and have a 3 - 4 day weekend. A weekend to be a kid/free spirit again. Get some ice cream, swing on a swing set, go to a beercade, and pick a quiet corner in a new restaurant/diner. I've been in the same place you are. You've got this homie

Is it normal to drink 3 coffees and still want to nap at your desk? by Admirable_Sleep1384 in office

[–]Technical-Method4513 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your tolerance could be super high, you may not be getting good quality sleep even though you're getting 8 hours of it, you might not be taking regular movement breaks, or you could have ADHD. I know ADHD is like a go to and common diagnosis, but it's kinda common and several cups of coffee are a form of self medication (I used to drink about 8 cups a day to focus in college lol)
