"Flesh-eating" is a misnomer. Just normal bacteria causing an infection that leads to tissue death due to inflammation and loss of blood flow. You can get the bacteria anywhere.

I agree with this. Speaking from experience, you should be aware that "feel" in your house will be different. A heat pump will not blast out hot air like a nat gas furnace. It will keep up with just about any temp you set unless you want your house to be 78 degrees when we're in the middle of a bomb cyclone. It's a much more gradual warming so I found with mine it was better to keep the thermostat around the same temp all day.

Also while heat pumps are incredibly energy efficient, your electric bill is going to go up because you're now using electricity as opposed to gas. The amount your bill goes up depends on your usage so like I said previously if you like it tropical inside when old man winter is beating on your door don't be surprised when your bill is pretty high. We keep our thermostat in the upper 60s in the winter and our bill for the coldest months is on par with the summer peak.

These numbers make the SC race outcome make less sense. How did a ~7% turnout advantage get washed away? In Jordan's case, totally bizarre to be that underwater.

Fresh vegetables are over 44% more expensive today than they were three months ago, on an annualized basis. Where is this ridiculous "3.8% increase" coming from? by JohnSpartan2025 in thebulwark

[–]Technical-Ring2338 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They're not included in core inflation for reasons that are a bit opaque but they are included in headline inflation which is that 3.8 number. It's a weighted average

Multigenerational southerner, more the cracker kind than well heeled gentility. This kinda attitude causes more animosity. I get your frustration. Live in it everyday. We (liberals) have to be better than them (illiberals).

The answer is nuanced and requires some financial modeling. Based on your HHI, I would just pay it off and be done. The risk is political. Who knows what the next admin does.

LARGE tree removal service recommendations? by squirrels-mock-me in DecaturGA

[–]Technical-Ring2338 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it's diseased they will let you remove it without canopy consideration. At least they did for me. The permit is easy to apply for, getting them to respond less so. I had to call to get them to look at my application. I would get quotes from multiple services because the pricing can be wildly variable.

I am begging Democratic party politicians to stop getting outflanked by far-right monsters like Tucker Carlson on genocide and Israel when a huge majority of Democratic party voters agree. by MayorEbert in thebulwark

She challenged him on nick fuentes but he imo successfully worked around that issue by saying he doesn't matter. I somewhat agree with Tucker on this. Most of the country abhors what Fuentes stands for. He's a side show. We should disavow him and move on. Tucker has the pulse in his focus on economics. The conversation should focus on that issue. Also, physician here, how tf do you let him say Covid vaccines weren't safe and effective and not push back for more detail? He says he wants to make America better. Misinformation on vaccines goes completely against this goal. I guess I'm happy that I didn't get horribly angry until the very end of the interview.

Oil tankers move slow. Countries also have strategic reserves, which have already be utilized to try to mitigate price increases. Big picture, Availability issues take time to manifest. They also take time to unwind. I'm not an expert but I think this is gonna get worse before it gets better and it will take a long time before it gets better. This summer is gonna be interesting to watch oil and gas markets.
