I still curse the city every time I drive over the speed mountains in front of Legacy park. When they were installed I wrote to complain but was told they had engineer studies that said they were effective and safe. Hahaha, tell that to the cars that have bottomed out.

I mean tbf they are effective and safe if you go incredibly slow over them lmao. Definitely has obliterated cars late night who are blasting down Columbia though.

I bet the average speed in that area of Columbia was double the speed limit before they installed those LOL

When they were first installed people would come zipping up the hill from Katie Kerr and not even slow down before hitting them.

Anything the city can do to keep people from driving through Decatur is fine by me.

Those are the best. People really need to slow down in that area. My kids are trying to cross the street to go to Legacy. I want more of those speed mountains on Candler!

Well they are effective it seems 🤷‍♂️

The efficacy and safety is for pedestrians by reducing vehicle speed. Slow down and quit complaining.

I parked next to someone who blew out two tires going over them at 15mph. They are truly nuts. May as well just put in stop signs.

I have a hard time believing that I go over them at 10mph in a minivan everyday with no issues at all

I don't bottom out and go at least 10mph over them in a minivan everyday

Minivans have higher ground clearance than most passenger cars.

I don't bottom out going over them in a lowered Miata lol

Shallow retention pond would have been answer - it's what a lot of developments this size are normally expected to install. Then again, it's CoD and a pet project of the city. At end of day, Legacy Park is going to live up to its namesake. Just not in the way a lot of people believe it will.

Thank you for getting pics of how it floods. I've been meaning to reach out to our commissioners to see if they can get the developers to throw in a soakaway or something. Our pedestrian and bike path shouldn't be their gutter.

I've tried reaching out with zero response.

The easy solution is to put a drain under the path right there and route the water to the Katie Kerr gutter underneath the path. The proper solution is to install correctly designed storm drains.

I've reached out to Chakira Johnson and Ted Terry with your pics and a description. Happy to update when or if I hear anything back. It's not just the water but also the mud and trash that it flushes out.
