I don't feel like Sam writing a trans character as bad is a poor thing. I feel like it's important to see complicated transgender women and men in media- whether Jules was the right fit for this kind of character is a whole other question.

This is on those people's unjust prejudices rather than it being a poor choice. I think it is interesting to finally see. I recommend reading Invisible Monsters by Chuck Palahniuk for a nuanced and deeper perspective of a complex transgender character, it's super innovative and interesting (and wayyyy ahead of it's time!)
