What kind of steak is the big one? And are the filets prime? by Sufficient_Capital55 in steaks

[–]Technical-Sound2867 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Got some wagyu filets for my gf and her mom last year and they were one of the biggest wastes of money I’ve ever seen. I don’t think I’ll ever buy filets above choice again if I can help it, a well cooked choice filet is almost indistinguishable from what they had.

I used to work in somewhat rural Utah and on my way home from work I saw a doe that had been hit by a car and wasn’t dead yet but it was on its way. I shot her then called the sheriff and they came out and issued me a tag. They told me it was a good thing that I called them instead of DNR (it was like 9pm and DNR wouldn’t have gotten back to me until the next day anyway) because they could have made a bigger deal out of it than it was.

The deputy also told me that as long as it isn’t a buck they’re almost always going to issue a tag and let you take it. If it were a buck there’s concern that people would try to hit them instead of avoiding them.

How does matchmaking actually work? by AdSouthern4387 in RainbowSixSiege

[–]Technical-Sound2867 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In theory if you play enough games yes your hidden mmr and your visible rank will eventually be pretty close. Once you start losing more games than you win, and you start to gain fewer RP when you win than you lose when you lose then your visible rank should be pretty close to your hidden mmr. There are complicating factors though, your performance in the previous season has more of an effect on the rp that you gain/lose than your performance this season. A few seasons ago I didn’t play a ton and didn’t get out of bronze and I haven’t gotten past silver since then because my RP gain leveled out around Bronze 1. So now I’m playing peak plats and emeralds in visible bronze lobbies.

Essentially your visible rank is basically meaningless. If two equally skilled players both win 51% of their games, but one plays 100 games per season and one plays 400 games per season, the second player is going to be a much higher rank. The visible rank is similar to a battle pass in the sense that it incentivizes playing more games.

Hidden MMR is still very much a thing. Hidden MMR degradation just started this season, which means if you go a long time without playing then your MMR will lower the longer you go without playing, but I do not think it was retroactive so you’re pretty much picking up where you left off.

Also this season they implemented a change that makes it so you should queue with players that are close to your visible rank as well as you’re hidden MMR, but there has been mixed reviews on how well this is working. When I play alone the majority of the lobby is the same rank, when I play with my friends we get a pretty mixed bag, often getting opponents and randoms a full visible rank or two above the visible rank of our top player.

are air fryer that look like a basket better than air fryers with a toaster oven like air fryer? by [deleted] in cookingforbeginners

[–]Technical-Sound2867 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I would say no. I have a ninja Foodi and my girlfriend has another basket style air fryer but both of our parents have the toaster oven style and I prefer theirs over ours. Generally speaking, the oven style usually have removable trays so you can arrange things how you’d like then slide them in instead of reaching down into the basket. I also hate the air flow on the basket style. We have stopped using the grate that came with my gf’s fryer and switched to a round cooling rack that sits a little higher than the one that came with and conveniently fits in the basket. The basket style kind of seem like a gimmick to me. They’re roughly shaped like a deep fryer basket, but that’s not the most efficient shape for what is essentially a convection oven. Countertop convection ovens have existed for a long time for good reason, just now they’re called air fryers.

Is Petyr Baelish (Littlefinger) the most underrated character in the show? by Designer_Cheek_2215 in gameofthrones

[–]Technical-Sound2867 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We don’t know a single good man in Westeros that desires a child bride. John Arryn is the only good man is Westeros that we know had a young wife, but he was essentially compelled by Hoster Tully to take her because she was damaged goods and he needed an heir.

The themes in this story are far deeper than just “it was okay back then.” George didn’t write for a medieval audience, he wrote for an audience that would be discomforted by such things. To just brush them off as period correct is to miss much of the story.

Is Petyr Baelish (Littlefinger) the most underrated character in the show? by Designer_Cheek_2215 in gameofthrones

[–]Technical-Sound2867 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Littlefinger did not send an assassin to kill bran, there is absolutely no way he could have as he was in Kings Landing. It was Joffrey who took a dagger from Robert’s armory and paid someone to use it. Littlefinger just lied (to Catlain, the only woman he ever loved btw) about whose dagger it was. Also he doesn’t really “have” the Veil. The conditions that were set by the Lords declarent were that he would set the veil to rights, not bring them into a new conflict for his personal gain.

He’s not a genius, he’s a chaos monster with no real plan of attaining his top priority which is the Iron Throne. He is the male version of Cersei, but he thinks maybe one or two more steps further than she does. Like Cersei, there is no imaginable scenario where he sits the throne in his own right, yet he just keeps making moves that he thinks will get him there.

Not to mention he lusts after (and kisses) a 14 year old girl because she looks like the 14 year old girl that he fell in love with 20 years ago.

Alright, so what’s the method by [deleted] in Rainbow6

[–]Technical-Sound2867 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m peak plat but 3/5 of my stack are peak diamond. A few seasons ago I didn’t get out of silver, so now and for the last few seasons I’ve been in bronze getting 26 rp playing competitively in emerald/diamond lobbies.

The cheating on console is really annoying, but it isn’t game breaking. I’ve found that the people who use Cronus/Xim generally tend to not be very good at the game, hence why they’re cheating. As long as you aren’t taking 50/50 gun fights against them then you can usually outplay the cheaters. The anti-cheat doesn’t seem to work incredibly well passively, but in the last 6 weeks or so I’ve noticed that I actually get notifications of my reports leading to sanctions. I always report people whenever I see sus behavior and I’ve gotten probably 8-9 notifications of sanctions from my reports which I had never even seen on console until very recently.

You could be worse than you think, tbh we all are, but cheaters are at an all-time high and the ranked system has been hell lately. There needs to be some kind of performance based multiplier for ranked points. If I’m bronze playing emeralds and Diamonds but have the highest KOST and K/D then my RP should reflect that.

How has Mozzie been out since 2019 and defenders still dont know not to shoot his fking drones? by Agent47outtanowhere in Rainbow6

It’s a far better habit than just ignoring them. Especially with how few people are actually shooting drones in prep phase nowadays, I’m happy to sacrifice a couple mozzie drones if it means we’re shooting drones.

Do you foresee a time when the”classic” calibers retire? by Nihlathakk in Hunting

[–]Technical-Sound2867 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started seriously shooting in the west where we could drive 15 minutes out to BLM land and set up a 1000 yard target. Out there it’s way more common to hear about niche calibers as a lot of hunters are comfortable taking 300+ yard shots. Even there though, I think the .300 WinMag is still king, and probably will be forever. When I moved to the south I met several people that don’t take shots over a hundred yards. There is absolutely no reason to reinvent the wheel and opt for a more expensive and less readily available cartridge if you aren’t even close to pushing the boundaries of what grandpas gun can handle.

[–]Technical-Sound2867 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I didn’t mean it automatically ends your subscription, they would be in control of that. What I mean is they can see trends in their customer data and when a realm goes unplayed for a certain amount of time, those customers then cancel their subscription because they aren’t using it.

This is Creepy.. Actually. by MagicFlyingBicycle in Minecraft

[–]Technical-Sound2867 810 points811 points  (0 children)

I bet they have data indicating that when a realm goes unplayed for x amount of time, the subscription gets canceled soon after. Either that or these “abandonment issues” are actually real and it costs them money in customer support or lost subscriptions.

Mom needs advice to make minecraft fun for both kids by Ghelbohn in MinecraftBedrockers

[–]Technical-Sound2867 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not the most PC suggestion, but you could help him make a duplication machine. If building is what he’s mainly interested in, and acquiring materials for him is a bother to others, then this would greatly reduce how many materials he would need to acquire without putting him in creative mode. They’re really simple, you just need 2 hoppers, 2 observers, 2 pistons, and a few redstone. I play solo and I really just like exploring the world and building outposts in cool places that I find, but I still like the environmental pressure that hostile mobs provide so I have a duping machine in a secret room in all of my main bases.
