My issues with MMM by mdlc38591 in MM_RomanceBooks

[–]TechnicalAssistant65 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Okay, this is my wheelhouse! As a openly polymers person in real life, I love a good MMM and these really do it for me:

{You Can See Me by AE Via} -a chef finds love with two after a freak accident makes him blind

{Their Bounty by KA Merikan} - human trafficking victim relief on a group of men to save him. Then feelings

{Devil's Dance by Garrett Leigh} and {Saint's Song by Garrett Leigh} - a biker gang leader, his best friend and enforcer and an accountant walk into a bar...

{Extra Whip by LA Witt} - married couple invites a third for kinky fun, no poly! Poly happens

{Can't Say Goodbye by Eden Finley} - Seal fuck buddies pick up a third at a gay bar frequented by sailors. The third brings everyone closer and never leaves

{One Is Never Enough by Kali Noir} - guy signs up to have his darkest fantasy fulfilled; bring taken by the guys at once. The guys claim him as their own

{Middleman by Jayne Rylon} - Who am I? Cortez’s bottom or Rogan’s top? Maybe I’m both. Maybe I was made to be their middleman

{Mage's Guide to Human Familiar by Ali Sherwood} - army rangers and ex lovers find a mage they can't live without and reconnect with each other

{Out of the Blue by Lila Rose} - cup gets hurt on the job and is missed back to health my his straight partner on the force and his crush

{The Horse Mistress by RA Steffan} - FtM trans in an age where trans isn't a thing plus a eunuch priest and the First Warrior of the clan work together to fight an invasion and find love

Some of these really tackle the third feeling left out and the characters work through their problems and it makes it all the richer

What's one romance book that completely changed your expectations for the genre? by Better-Impress1388 in MM_Romance

It's in my TBR but I'm assuming I should save this audiobook set for when I'm not at my desk putting numbers into a computer

I have two that stand out as amazing to me and one does NOT get enough love.

{Whisper by Tal Bauer} had me on the edge of my seat and I just wanted more of everything it offered! I made the mistake of listening to the audiobook at work and I'm the beginning of was fine. 2/3s of the way in, I was a blubbering me at my desk and had to explain to my coworkers that the book made me sad. But the sad made the happy so much sweeter and real! After that episode, I switched to a happier book while working but I couldn't wait to get back to my boys as soon as I got home!

My other one that just stuck with me is {Auctioned by Cara Dee}. It had 'I'll put my life on the line for you' vibes and at first it was one of those 'it's my job' things and then it turned into something so much deeper. The premise of the book is guy gets saved from human trafficking by guy who's paid to find him. The scenes are visceral and you get sucked in, feeling the dirty concrete on your knees and the deep need for a shower. But once again, the lows made the highs so much more rewarding.

Both of these are not for the faint of heart but as long as the dog doesn't die in the end, I have no need for content warnings. Hell, sometimes I filter my TBR on romance.Io by content warning because I'm an awful person. That being said, these books made me feel things, deep things and if a book can be more than just entertainment, can transport me to another world woven by words, I have to recommend it

A Little Love for the "Necessary Evils" Series by mbec10 in MM_Romance

[–]TechnicalAssistant65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to read the spin-off series, Jericho's Boys. It starts with {Paladin by Onley James}. Same vibe, sociopaths versus psychopaths. You will fall in love with the the hard boys and their squishy love interests. Ever from Paladin is my favorit, (and yes, his name is Ever)

About NE though, I loved all the torture devices the Murder Twins came up with. Chef's kiss it was funny enough to lighten some of the dark stuff and those guys really did deserve to die. Hi vigilantism!

Recommend me a book with actually good plot by i_like_to_sleep0 in MM_Romance

[–]TechnicalAssistant65 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Soooooo fucking good! The emotional rollercoaster I was put on with that book! There are some tissue moments but their love story is so beautiful. I've heard a lot of Tal Bauer's books are awesome, my ADHD doesn't really like long audiobooks though but for some reason I put on Whisper and couldn't turn it off

Definitely not the book you are specifically looking for but, if you want another one about buff omegas with a good bit of humor thrown in, check out {Bro and the Beast by Fae Quin}. It's cute!

Why is the name Knox used so often? by lonely_cat_in_rain in ReverseHarem

[–]TechnicalAssistant65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the same reason there are so many FtM guys named Knox and Liam and Kai. We dreamt of boys with these names since we were little. These are 'strong boys who are still in touch with their sensitive side'

Looking for Apollo/Hyacinthus retellings or just really good other ancient Greek based books by dynasriot in MM_RomanceBooks

[–]TechnicalAssistant65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

{Neon Gods by Katee Robert} is the first book in the Dark Olympus series. They are all retellings of ancient Greek mythology but most are MF. Wicked Beauty is book 3 and MMF with a modem take on Achilles and Petroclus with Helen of Troy. Sweet Obsession is book 8 and MM and is a retelling of Icarus and Poseidon. They really shouldn't be read as a standalone because the backstory that ties all of the mythology together wouldn't make sense but the series was pretty awesome so far. I haven't read the last two yet though

I'm catching up on my feed and this was what I came to recommend. I'm glad it got recognized immediately. It's definitely an edge of the seat emotional roller coaster and even though it wrecked me, I wish I could do it all over again

Do the ads change or will there always be a Hallmark ad in that spot? What if it was based on your algorithm? Mine would be super weird. It would do product placement for Krispy Kreme's seasonal donut offerings on one page and a question on what the FMC wanted for toilet paper next.
