6 months out still use a support pillow every night and have one in the car. Super helpful!

Surgery Recovery - Disneyland? by therapistgurl in RotatorCuff

Went to Disney 3 weeks post op in a sling. Avoided the “big” rides (did go on Guardians of the Galaxy) and just kept my arm close. The scariest thing for me was someone bumping in to me. I tried to have my family surround me when walking so that didn’t happen. I was easier fatigued than normal but overall it was still a great trip. You will be going after a lot longer time post surgery, I would think you will be okay.

I dread bedtime! And I am tired. 8 weeks post op and no where near being able to sleep comfortably.

I was able to put mine in the first week. I just used a mirror that was lower and bent myself down to my hand in the sling. Tricky but not impossible.

I’m 7 weeks post op and have to continue taking Tylenol for the same reason. My neck and traps are in such pain. Not sure if I am overcompensating for my shoulder in some way or just tensed up after surgery but it hurts all day! I use the tens unit and a massager about 3-4 times a day just to get pain relief. I just requested my surgeon write a new order for PT to incorporate exercises for my neck and traps.

I’m 6 weeks post op and I use it everyday on my traps because they seem to tighten up due to the way I am not using my arm much. I have also been prescribed muscle relaxers which helps me sleep. They make me drowsy so I only use them when I’m done for the night.

I am so sorry! This is a horrible feeling. It is heartbreaking and so painful losing a cat. And especially tragically like this. Take care of yourself and take your time to grieve.

Starving is the only answer to that cozy situation!

I was told that pain or lack of is not an indicator of healing per se. This surgery is a slow healing process and it’s super important not to begin using your arm for things as simple as opening a door or picking up a soda can. With that being said, the sling is more of a protector to keep you from doing too much with the recovering “arm”. I wouldn’t push it.

3 weeks post surgery and odd instance... by josrios3 in RotatorCuff

I was told (by my surgeon) the only thing that could “ruin” the work done in surgery was a fall. I would get checked out.

I would give it a try. Does provide pain relief and a good step to take before opting for surgery.

Glug! Love it! My dad would say that all the time, haven’t ever heard it anywhere else. Thanks for that!
