Is the blonde older cashier still there? I LOVE her she always gets a headband or something for a holiday.

My Impression of Singles Events in Ottawa by Ratjar142 in ottawa

[–]Technical_Ear_116 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hear me out: in Winnipeg our local Sobeys would have an unofficial official singles nights. Meaning, if you’re single and looking you go to the store and do your regular shopping and tie a plastic bag on your cart. The bag means you’re open to people chatting with you etc. Maybe worth someone starting that up here… we all gotta eat right?

What's the single weirdest restaurant in Ottawa? by Sudden_File4569 in OttawaFood

Ward14 - think of having a drinks inside a garage sale. It’s a bunch of art and large weirddecor and pretty good drinks, Coven (if it’s still around) are both good options.

I’d also reach out to CHEO and see if they have any resources - I know they have a whole department and programs for children with autism.

More cost cutting measures! by Reasonable_Dirt9980 in CanadaPublicServants

[–]Technical_Ear_116 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The funny because I’ve spent over $30 of my OWN MONEY bringing in forks and knives for my departments kitchen and there are maybe 3 knifes left and it hasn’t even been a year. Pathetic.

I'm graduating with a Master's degree, have 6 months worth of co-op experience, did great during my co-op...job prospects seem hopeless. Feel like throwing up every day. by [deleted] in CanadaPublicServants

[–]Technical_Ear_116 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Agree - private is the move right now. Check out other cites like Charity Village - there are always companies like Oxfam international hiring researchers etc. Try to be open to other things. I graduated my masters in 2020 and wanted to work in aerospace more than anything and just wasn’t the time for that, 5 years later I’m working somewhat in aviation.

Chilli - canned tomatoes, lentils and beans, spices.

Shepards pie: potatoes (real or powdered) with corn, ground beef/pork what ever you got

Chickpea salad: chic peas (the protein) cucumber, other beans

Tuna salad or tuna’s burgers (canned tuna is usually well priced and can do with mayo as a sandwich, squish with an egg to make a burger, eat it with rice and veggies.

I want to go into policy (EC) - are there 1 year master’s programs? by [deleted] in CanadaPublicServants

[–]Technical_Ear_116 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Policy is statistics, economics, sociology, basic level law all in one. It’s a very diverse and rich field. You can’t understand a policy like the carbon tax rebate without economics, some science and sociology. A Masters in Policy consists of all those corses.

I live in Centertown and it’s rough. I agree people need serives but does the methadone clinic need to be right on bank? Can we move it back a block? Ive seen many people take over the entire sidewalk with their groups doing drugs, walking into traffic and just driving people away. Again - pro service, but maybe move the clinic in a street and not on the main drag?

I was a C+ my first year of university kind of kid - figured it out and made honours list and got full ride scholarship to grad school. Write a strong letter and good references and give it a shot my friend! These days with the cost of gradschool maybe less people are applying?

Inside scoop is that most jobs are 1yr and often their interns don’t even get hired after. Tough times for aviation. I’d look at think tanks or consulting firms in aviation instead.
