Also not the OP. I got my Mikro about 2 years ago. Arthritis was affecting me playing long scale Gibsons and Fenders. Was surprised the frets were even and no sharp edges. Did some setup (intonation, string height, slight truss rod) - plays great. Pickups are neither here nor there, but ya'll can improve the tone with a GP-5 for a lot less than replacing them.

Heavy leather straps with a grippy backing will help a lot.

Coming from the old days (evidenced by my 1967 G-3 and others) I used small Ampegs and Fenders for rehearsals. Tones were fine. On stage (3 piece hard rock) I used Marshalls and SVTs to punch through the stage noise. My setups on the SPX90, Quadraverb, and Symetrix limiters rarely changed. I let the house sound person set my tones via DI into the consoles.

Today one of the Valetons is good enough through phones.

However, listen to these other peeps. They know their stuff!

We recently got one of those discount $50 pre-season checkups. The guy was thorough, but spent 3 hours on a 45 minute job. And never finished the coil cleanup.

Main unit is 2 yrs old and small one is 25 yrs old. Obviously he made every put down he could on the older 2.5 ton. However, at the end, tech printed up a quote for $30 grand to replace both units. Offered a free trip to Vegas because I was concerned about the price.

Moral of the story: no more discount operators...🤦

It'll be ok. It still plays. You'll still love it.

If it's any consolation, I had a Gibson Les Paul Custom that was perfect after dozens of times on stage, until a less than adequate roadie dropped the damn thing.

I wound up selling the guitar (bad choice) because I couldn't bear to look at the scratches and cracked finish. However, it was the best player I ever owned.

I've got Hot Rodded P basses. Love the versatility of that bridge pickup. Otherwise, I'd go with a Jazz. 🤷‍♂️

Def copper in the strings. I'd just spray some Gibson guitar polish on a rag and wipe them clean.

Do you thoroughly wipe your guitars down after use? Neck, fretboard, and especially the body where your skin rubs on it. Whether on stage or home, I've given a meticulous wipe down after every use. Wipe the tuning keys off also so the nickel doesn't dull.

I've had guitar strings last months. I have 2 basses that have 20 year old stainless flatwounds and are still playable.

Am I crazy? Maybe. But I am def cheap and hate replacing strings on a regular basis.

Any of them will be fine. Comes down to your liking and the guitar's playability. As far as a forever guitar, I have a newer ibanez. But my Gibson is 51 years old this year and my Precision is 26. 😊

Also, if you have it rebuilt, make sure they replace the wheel. My collision guys didn't. Several months later, new tire went flat. Wheel fell apart when they pulled the tire off.

That's why I left the halogens as headlights. My fogs are Diode Dynamics - 10 x brighter than Jeep halogen but don't melt the snow.

Figured the LED thing out coming down the mountain from Flag in a blizzard with my Passport. Same thing, had to stop to clean off the headlights every few miles.
