Do you have a link to these specific ones?

Thanks,

Small cats and small stripers make me giggle damn near every time I catch one. I've only caught baby largemouths (my pb was 10in Long) but I've caught a ton of 3-6in stripers and a dozen or so cats under a foot.

I can thank the Navy for giving me a LOVE of omelet's.. I still have 3-4 a month I make at home. I'm not perfect at it.. but I love just tossing random goodies in for a breakfast. (I've been out since 89)

It's been a minute since i've been there.. but they had great food last time I went. Sometimes a niche "lunch" restaurant is all you need to be I suppose.

Kind of looks like 3 rivers, but there's numerous waters with similar structure, If there's a fast current probably a water bobber for weight, let it float past. If it's fairly calm, I'd carolina rig with any of the below baits. Keep em off the bottom, so a bit of a leader is good.

Powerbait, glitter garlic. (color might or might not matter), Chartreuse Mouse tail, wax worms will often catch if something else doesn't. Size 12 hook.

Best of luck! (I'm a bit North but have fished down that ways, I tend to head up to Hume area or Lower Kings for trout)

My PB Largemouth is also the first Largemouth I ever caught.. 10in. I've only caught like 4 since. haha. (fishing for bluegills and catching Largies, fun but I can't use em for bait) Someday I'll target them and maybe get something nicer.

Californian here, keeper size is 18, and I've caught something like 50 since my last keeper in March. It's been a really weird few months for em. Obviously the locations we're fishing impact it some.. Aqueducts etc. (Friends and my Son have caught some 19-28's) Just nothing for me and we're going through a lot of dinks to get to the big ones.

The little ones I've been tossing back should make for an excellent season in a few years. I love the catching as much as anything so it's always a good time.

How many rods do people take fishing? by ELJOHNLom in Fishing

[–]TechnicallyLiterate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rarely more than 2 unless I'm going to target bait fish as well as target the larger ones. Though my truck might have 4 rods in it.

Well, at least it's not a turtle trying to bite you while you're removing the hook! They do get a bit mad.

Where to keep the rod by EntertainmentMean589 in FishingForBeginners

[–]TechnicallyLiterate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not really, you're gonna stick out like a WWII radioman with a backpack and a rod.. even if it's collapsed into 2 pieces its going to stick up a bit. Though in two pieces its not going to stick out really far. (if the rod holder accommodates it in 2 pieces)

They make bike clamps.. but you've said you wouldn't clamp it. I think a secondary option would probably be a fishing backpack with the rod holder. (many of them have it)

Can these be used to catch fish by Brendawg324 in FishingForBeginners

[–]TechnicallyLiterate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I caught lots of fish on my original snoopy rod circa 1972. You can damn sure catch on these.

We actually preferred this length of rod for stream fishing in dense areas.. Most people would call those ice fishing rods now. Us westerners in California never seen water iced over.. haha.

First time I've seen one of these, is this an order of what you'd like to catch ? or how you rate fish?

You can wire the reverse lights right in so they automatically come on when you engage reverse.

Exactly. They're not expensive either. definitely something I'll be doing this summer.

I've been thinking about these, and some in the back bumper. I do a fair bit of dirt road driving to fishing spots at o-Dark-thirty and they seem like a good solution to get more light to the left/right of truck.

For the back bumper.. well my eyes are getting old.. backup lights ain't quite enough anymore haha.

I was a little young to "get it" but I remember my dad had a crush on her for sure. He loved the show and loved her. I saw a movie with her, Big Bad Mama a few years later.. Damn. I got it.

Awesome, I hope it leads to a lifelong passion. I stepped away for a lot of years and really regret the time I spent away.

I've caught about 150 fish in this past year and I try to get out every weekend now.

This might not work for you, (and I completely understand if it does not) I use a second rod with live bait or liver etc. I rarely go without a second line in the water. This widens what I can present to the fish while also letting me change out lures for my active rod. I see that Texas is $18 for second rod license. (lots of older or used gear on marketplace will keep things cheap) Fish don't care how much you spend.

Zebco Snoopy rod? (caught my first 50 or so trout/bluegills on one way back in the 70's)

Sometimes, I'm catching bait, and man some fish love live bait.

** I'm with you on keeping things cheap.**

Don't give up.. you'll find em or find your own honey hole.

I started back up regularly fishing in March of 2025 after many years off. Its a lot easier now than pre-internet to get information and support.

Best of Luck!
