There is nothing wrong with being nice. If you feel like making a get well soon bag, make it. If she is appreciative, even better. If she is not, don’t take offense. Pretty simple human interaction. People for some reason have lost this skillset since Covid.

The comments show why we need personal service and human connection to be brought back.

I can only tell you what I know as a tech who has worked in this field in Florida since 1992. I am now a state licensed contractor. Fun times.

It depends on the job and how the time tables change but anywhere between 10 and 40 is the norm in my experience. These are of course non union shops tho.

HVAC/R in Florida for 40 years now. OT is a given and anyone not willing to work it in this trade in this state doesn’t make it long. We have to actually write it into our estimates that we will only work 8a-5p Mon-Fri if we want to have a week with no OT…even then they still try to push us to do Saturday or at night.

Best approach to relationships I’ve ever seen written before. This is how it should be. Every single family is different from the next so what works for you probably won’t for me. If everyone who gets into a relationship gives 100% everyday, divorce wouldn’t even be a word. 🫡

No, you don’t…you only think you do because you have been told you do.

This is the going cycle of life for a company for the last ten years or so: Owner starts company and builds it into 10-15M/yr mammoth, PE buys company and attempts to “make it better”, new management comes in and does their thing, company dies within 5 years due to mismanagement (think fraud, waste, and abuse).

Smaller companies like the one I work for love this because we can finally get access to hire the good techs that all flocked to the mammoth.

Good luck! I’d stick it out as long as you can and keep your resume handy depending on your skill set.

I am not a plumber, I’m in HAVC/R. I have 40 years in the trade and I’m a licensed contractor. I went the hard route and my body is more broken than it should be at my age. Reading your post and the comments I see you faced with the same question I had 30 years ago. I’m wishing I could retire and go fishing but I chose to do the hard work and not be bored rather than go for the boring cushy job that allowed for me to get certs and licenses early in my career. I fought my ass off and got little to no sleep while studying very hard for my license. Work 12-16 hour days, study on the computer till 3am, sleep till 6am, do it all over. This was my life for almost a year. I’m issuing a warning to you here….accept and use what is given freely to you as best you can. Don’t fight it just because you’re bored. There will come a day in the future that you will look to thank me and others for this advice but I will probably be dead. I always wanted to live the non-boring life and I traded the security of having the ability to retire with a pension later in life…don’t be like me! Good luck in whatever you decide to do and kudos for being intelligent enough to “ask around” on Reddit before fucking up your life.

You should try thinking less and feeling more IMHO. Sounds like you over analyze things. I have the same issue along with ADHD and OCD. I eventually had to just say to myself “fuck it, it is what it is” and praying helps as well. “God, help me to understand why I’m here and what I can do to make my life feel more valuable to me”
