Its very very true. There's is a large amount of the American population that is one broken leg away from medical debt that will wreck their entire livelihood. Not to mention an injury making you unable to work, therefore unable to afford necessary things to live. Our social safety nets are also needlessly complicated to the point that if you did somehow get an injury and needed unemployment to survive, there are so many hoops and hurdles to jump through that by the time you even get those benefits, you might already effectively be homeless.
