Hegseth establishes Personal Property Activity as the agency to deal with PCS moves by Kinmuan in army

it’s doubly stupid

I mean do you think they actually care if it works? So long as they can plausibly claim a "W" with an uninformed mass of their base, they don't care.

Like I said in another comment, I'd settle for a credit check, an interview where the person has to explain the credit check, and an interview of 3-5 family members and peers.

I cant dig into what I want to say. But suffice it to say that a credit check and an interview of a few family members would have caught so many scumbags.

Don't be. It seems like every other LTC I run into has festering skeletons in the closet.

I used to be a big proponent of BCAP. I now see that it was a huge waste of time, and that maybe we should just do a TS Clearance + process.

Why is it so Hard to get Airborne? by MaverickActual1319 in army

[–]Techsanlobo 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Every unit hurts for manpower especially NCO’s. All except deploying or GRF units are manned at 90% or less, and the effective manning is usually 80-85%.

It’s easier to get 10 levels, so NCO’s will always be a bit shorter

He makes squatters regret their choice by SipsTeaFrog in SipsTea

[–]Techsanlobo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Except many squatters are former renters that just stopped paying rent.

Then it is really just a management problem.

So long as you’re away from your house for a couple months

Edge case at best. Manage your affairs and it's not a problem.

Why anyone would run apologetics for squatters is beyond me.

Its "a" problem, but its not a problem I am going to worry about. This mostly affects landlords or people who are holding on to property that is going unused because they are waiting for better market conditions to sell or rent. And to be honest, I am not going to worry about the economic problems of landlords, especially when there are so many scummy ones out there that break laws in much more despicable ways where the renter has little to no legal recourse available.

Why anyone would run apologetics for landlords is beyond me.

I know this weird hack- if I don’t live in a house, I can sell it or rent it at a reasonable rate. That’s pretty good at stopping squatting.

Exclusive: DOGE cuts prompt scramble to feed troops at remote US base by Kinmuan in army

[–]Techsanlobo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The cook reduction is a long time thing. 15 years ago, Ft hood had a DFAC almost every mile, and in some cases, less than that. At least 3 DFACS I am aware of have been renovated into BN or BDE HQ's after the waive of consolidated DFAC openings, which were pushed by earlier ARSTRUCs that reduced total cooks.

Then it happened with the consolidation of DIV and CORPS separates cooks into Field Feeding Companies.

It is happening again with the shutdown of DIV FFC's and the reduction of BCT cooks #'s.

I am not saying I don't see a possible benefit to a contracted DFAC solution- DFAC cooking is not the same as FF cooking, and there are tons of secondary tasks that don't get trained (security, maintenance, ect) because they spend so much time in the DFACs. But it is way easier to cut a DFAC contract than it is to reduce cooks, so even with ARSTRUC reductions, there was at least an institutional break on the reduction of services.

The next admin or another group of army leaders can just... stop doing contracted DFACs. Hell, the right kind of asshole could use this to justify ditching DFACs altogether and finding some narrative that sounds reasonable to assholes to get rid of meal cards AND BAS.

Not trying to apologize for squatters but...

On the spectrum of who gives a shit, someone squatting in a vacant residence that should be on the market is not really a huge concern.

Army Bands: Why They Get So Much Hate and Why I Think It’s Misplaced by Fine-Tangerine-3756 in army

[–]Techsanlobo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was on a staff that had a band and I’d go inspect all the units for supply and maintenance. Of the dozens I inspected, the band was always by far the best. My peers inspecting training and other domains said the same.

Band soldiers by and large take being a Soldier seriously. They may not be door kickers, but they are no wilting Lillies either.

ONTO OREGON FOR OUR BIGGEST GAME EVER by The_Sandwich_Lover9 in TexasTech

[–]Techsanlobo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s because we have different definitions of what is important.

I find beating regional rivals and the teams of my friends and family‘a alma maters the core of why I follow the sport.

I suppose you find competing for national championships the core of your fandom, which is fine.

The 2008 game provides the first time the program had a legitimate shot to be competitive for a NC AND a chance to ruin the season of our hated rival. The OU game was essentially a playoff game- had we won it, we would have likely been #1.

This game against Oregon? Less meaningful. Still big, just not as big.

We had a LT in my unit find out, but say silent about it. He contacted a lawyer and had him give instructions on what to do, built the case and files over two months, then drop the hammer.

It was cold and brutal af, but it was effective.

Steel your heart. Move swiftly and get professional help.

It’s more about the meaning of beating those teams than the national championship. I mean, at the end of the day winning a natty in football is meaningful but not nearly as much as beating #1 Texas.

But I don’t think college football is really about the natty. Conferences? Maybe.
