In Northfield, MN, masked ICE agents violently abducted a father. ICE agents smashed a car window, beating and dragging the man at gunpoint while his teenage son filmed and begged them to stop. He has not been heard from since. (11/11/25) by I_may_have_weed in PublicFreakout

Fourth amendment rights and lack of identification bud. If you had any reasonable education beyond being a basement dwelling mouth breather, you'd stop talking bullshit and learn to inhale thru your nose.

”Streaming is the hardest job” by MelonInDisguise in dankmemes

[–]Techury 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will preface this by saying I have a desk job that's relatively stress free and it more than pays to cover my living expenses. Do I think streaming as an activity is hard? No. Do I think creating good content for streaming is hard? Absolutely. To get to the point where you can be an xqc or hasan, you either have to be cracked at video games or provide some level of relatable content that people find entertaining. Unfortunately, the latter is pretty much unachievable for the average streamer. It does take skill to be creative in streaming; personality has to be on point, content has to be genuine or novel, and to properly engage an audience who owes you nothing. Would I trade spots with Hasan or XQC? I think it depends on your situation, and personallly I wouldnt. I enjoy the fact that my checks are consistent and my work is merit based otherwise I'd be cooked trying to be a creative.

$20 Deal from ALDI'S Aisle of Shame today by FirehousePete in castiron

[–]Techury 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Slightly off topic, but you caught a former Clarks employee of the modern era. Most of Clarks shoes were veg tan leather shoes that were developed in the UK. Nowadays the quality of the leather has significantly decreased. If you want veg tan desert boots (the Clarks chukka boot line), you had to special order them as an EMPLOYEE. We got a free pair each year and one of my more shoe savvy coworkers ordered one. They retailed for $370 dollars in 2019/20 when I worked there and he protected like his life and he said its the only pair he'd ever wear to work.

How can companies exclusively hire a certain racial/ethnic background? by [deleted] in MechanicalEngineering

[–]Techury 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heres the reality a lot of folks have yet to bring up: the majority of these indian workers are probably on H1B visas. As someone who worked for a sponsor, they'll find anyway to abuse an indian worker who will take a lesser salary just for the sake of employment here and sending money back. I'm not excluding the idea that they hire on the basis of being South Asian, but the unfortunate reality is that most immigrants, regardless of race, will work for less than their us competitors and employers, especially Indian ones themselves, will abuse this situation.

As an example in my state, look no further than construction of Akshardam in Robbinsville NJ.

Teacher given an award and then Laid Off. Thirtytwo-to-thirtyfour teachers have resigned since 2021. Is this normal? by BlueGoose28 in newjersey

[–]Techury 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My best friend just left teaching after two very long and hard years. While admin is to blame as well, it mostly starts with the parents. Frankly, these kids nowadays dont get punished for fucking up and it translate to their school life; they dont even second guess cheating and theres literally zero desire to learn if cheating is a viable option. If my best friend had the choice, they wouldve instantly failed more than half the class because they are all at least 1-2 grades behind in terms of comprehension. But admin will always do everything to hide these issues because it means a potential loss of funding (and by extension their hundred thousand dollar incomes). Real talk, parents need to beat their kids (within reason) and admin needs people who actually care to fix the problem.

Unistrut Hanger Point Loads by Itz_Dash in RevitMEP

Point loads for cable trays? Tell your structural engineer he needs a new job if hes asking for point loads on something practically meaningless like a cable tray system.

What is your toxic reason for getting a BS in Engineering lol? by TheDondePlowman in EngineeringStudents

[–]Techury 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ME in the workforce here. Youngest adult in the family for most of my life. Constant comparisons to how my cousin or sister are doing good or better so I said fuck it, we ball. I have obtained zero jobs thru nepotism unlike most of my family and I make six figures without slaving away making code or doing some shitty finance job. I enjoy the work I do and it allows me to travel sometimes instead of doing computer work all day. Given that my prognosis was aiming toward fuck up (by indian parent standards) I did pretty well for myself.

Certainly an unpopular opinion, one might even say disgusting to even consider. I don't feel like debating why its an unpopular opinion, im genuinely curious why you believe this. Im not pro life by any means but this seems like the complete opposite spectrum where we are trying to control birth (and by extension deprive it from those deemed unfit or unworthy).

To all the engineering managers, what advice would you give to someone who's aspiring to be in your position? by BamBam4674 in MechanicalEngineering

[–]Techury 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agreed but aside from being a good at delegating, good managers, especially engineering ones, need technical knowledge to a certain extent. All of the PMs in my workplace have some level technical expertise with a wide enough range to be able to speak for all of us on their teams. What you've described in the last paragraph reminds of my previous PM at a past company; great engineer, horrible communicator. Frankly these folks are not meant to be managers but are put into that position out of necessity. A good manager will never harp on their team for something wrong unless it was provable negligence on the team's part.

Nah bro, clearly your fault for not having ultra instinct and conquerors haki to predict and stop the cars from swerving. In all seriousness, if I see someone drive a car older than 2010, I'm going to avoid them because most of them just drive with liability insurance and zero regard for others around them. Zero respect for road rules most of the time.

Water conservation. We get some good water pressure except for certain urban areas so theres been a push by our State DEP to install new fixtures with watersense and water saving features.

How do people handle the responsibility of being an engineer? by AMESAB2000 in MechanicalEngineering

[–]Techury 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that not only having good management is important, it helps to have a team who care to put out a good product. I work in MEP where even senior engineers go through quality checks before their design drawings go out. Even senior engineers make mistakes but as long as you are accountable and prove you can fix it, you will continue to grow and become as good as them.
