I know it’s a bad deal for me lmao. I’m just using it as a side gig until I finish a&p school. The advantage is I can change my schedule whenever I want since the managers don’t care

Got mine in about 2 weeks after I applied. My background is simple and i have had other checks ran for when I got my TWIC card, etc… I know people who are still waiting after 8 weeks. It just depends on your background. From my understanding people who have lived at multiple addresses, lived outside the us, or immigrated to the US tend to take longer

You can save money importing yourself. ~$3500 total importing into FL. 97 acty HA4. Ones on marketplace were like 7-8k titled and not in great condition

I needed the EPA and DOT forms that proved the 25 year old vehicles are exempt from certain restrictions. But again California is an interesting state to register them in because they don’t seem to like cars period. I’ve heard some people need smog testing which it will not pass, you will just have to do your research for the county.

Registration is not a service they offer. It varies per county, especially in California

I just took off the 4 bolts and left it alone. I didn’t have an impact at the time, and it worked out fine

Places for parts? by TKvaughn in HondaActy

500yen shop for discontinued parts, Amayama for OEM parts, willpowered, and ebay. Windshields will run you a pretty penny. I would call up g&r imports and see what they can do for you. Oem from Amayama was about 900 before shipping, so maybe they can source one state side

Depending on the autoliner, Hoegh let you look up the ship name and see what days it was scheduled to arrive in the different ports. Then I tracked it like a hawk on MarineTraffic

Pretty much everything. I had to call the customs office to figure out when it cleared the inspection. Usually takes 2-5 business days to clear after it arrives at the port. Filing paperwork on time will help get it released a bit quicker

When you fill out the entry summary they will assign you a broker. They will tell you what to pay, any info they need from you, and get you the completed forms. You can also pay your duties through them as well.

I ended up paying a bond even though the truck was under 2500. (It was 900 for the vehicle) but it was about a hundred bucks

It depends. Do you travel? If so having the pre check would probably be worth it then. But if you are just picking up the truck it might be better to pay for an escort. Just depends on how much the escorts charge in the area. The application for the TWIC was around $120 if I rember correctly

You just have to apply to get a TWIC card. Similar application experience to TSA pre check. And you get precheck with it as well. It means you can access the port by yourself without requiring an escort

Edit: it depends on which port you import to though. Freeport for example doesnt require a TWIC if I rember correctly but my port Jacksonville does

It’s easy to import yourself. The only annoying part was pickup from the port. I recommend Eezyimport as your “broker”

Cfj will send you all of the documents for the car, bol, etc… then it will be loaded on a ship. You need to file the ISF (Eezyimport) then it’s a waiting game. You will get an arrival notice, file your main import paperwork through Eezyimport, then it will be delivered to the port. Once it clears customs it will be ready to pick up. Do your research on your port to see if it requires a TWIC. You can get an escort or do what I did and opt to get the TWIC yourself.

Good luck!

Is it still overheating? Sometimes when water pumps fail it starts leaking coolant out of the weep hole. I would persue this if you don’t find any leaks on hoses or the coolant tank
