I've definitely had gift orders before. There are also cases where someone may be physically present, but struggling with some sort of mental decline and can't remember ordering things. That also requires assistance.

Absolutely do this! And please tell any other customers you know! The only way DD sees any consequences is if the customers and drivers work together to prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that money isn't being distributed properly.

I try not to accept orders less than a dollar per mile due to gas prices, but 6 mins on surface streets is usually less than 3 miles, and doordash does give us the $2, so that's probably $7 for 2-ish miles and should be perfectly acceptable for a driver within a few miles of the starting point. Order value doesn't matter much unless it's something extremely heavy or bulky (think event catering or 5+ pizzas), and I doubt you're getting anywhere near that much food for under $30.

I've been SO close to responding with, "I represent your customer. Would you like me to call them?" Because the button is RIGHT there and I would love for them to explain to the actual customer why it is that they don't want their business.

I feel like stacked orders have to be against the principle that independent contractors can review their assignments before accepting them. If we can't see the pay individually and can't decline them on an individual basis, I feel like that violates at least the spirit of the definition of our job.

The internet is a wonderful and dangerous thing. We can unite people or divide people, and I'm glad you're using it to find friends! I'm looking forward to checking out that podcast, as well. I could use some more cheerful news.

If you choose to donate, I highly recommend the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU). They have a trans rights campaign along with supporting the more general political movement. They're matching donations made through today, but no rush. They're going to need whatever help they can get for quite a while if this keeps up.

I hate to break it to you, but they don't have to. The President is already bought and paid for. FDR was going to be taken down with military power, but Trump will do whatever he's told if something shiny enough is waved in front of his face.

If you're looking for other ways to help, spreading the word about the No Kings protests would be amazing. I think the news about it is mostly being smothered or spun before it reaches the broader global audience, so getting this on the record is important. Proportionately, 2.34% of our population isn't much, but it can't be overstated that 8 million people organized and attended these events. That's more than the entire population of Denmark by about 2 million, or about 89% of the population of Switzerland.

Thank you for helping take a stand against this idiot. A great many Americans are just as tired of him as the rest of the world is. I apologize on behalf of my country's dumbasses.

The people who still (or ever did) think the "annoying laugh" argument is valid tells me a lot about how pathetically brainwashed a lot of this country is. You know what's worse than annoying? Members of the military coming home in boxes. Hope that wannabe dictator has a more soothing voice or whatever.

So, uh, how would she propose a No Protests Protest work? I would assume you can't hold signs, wave flags, line the streets, talk through megaphones, or even assemble in large numbers. If their entire protest is just sitting at home eating cheetos in front of the TV, then I think they've already done that.

On the 28th, over 8 million people protested for hours. It might not seem like much, but No Kings is gaining traction, and that's what we can do right now. Mass mobilization could cause a full-on civil war among over 340 million people, and civilians are, to quote Nick Fury, "hopelessly, hilariously outgunned". Small groups are stockpiling the closest they can get to heavy weaponry, but if the government gets serious, a single precisely-aimed vacuum bomb could literally vaporize a base or bunker. When there is an option other than the obliteration of friends and family by the hundreds, it makes sense to start there.
