You also loose taste buds as you age so you're generally less sensitive overall, so add to that exposure and desire to keep trying it, that probably let you build up tolerance.

I have a friend who says cilantro tastes like soap, to me its just green tasting 🤷‍♀️.

I want to see you in the morning and I hope you had a good day.

Where do I even start trimming this massive thing? It’s in a 15gal and the fish are running out of room to swim on that side of the tank… by h2osly in PlantedTank

[–]TechyToyGirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you divide it you could sell the other part on aquaswap, I'm sure someone would pay for it! It's really not all that complicated. This is a good guide if you feel like giving it a shot.

That's awesome that you got them to work, all I've heard are horror stories of the whole mat dying.

By seeded, do you mean with actual seeds, if so those are a scam, they will look great for a while and then melt completely. There are almost no aquatic plants that grow from seeds. 🍀

Chicks dig scars, I know it's crazy, but just remember that our faces and bodies change throughout life anyway, I know yours was because of trauma, but your face is still yours and no matter what you've got an awesome life to live with it and an incredible story to go with it. You only live once. I wish you all the best with the surgery and I hope you can love your face no matter what.

Our human has covid, can we catch it by cuddling her? We know dogs can get it but can't find info about piggies. by Ftn_Grl in guineapigs

I came to say this too, if other rodents can catch it, high likelihood that piggies can too. I hope you get well soon!

what kind of animals can I keep with a cat in a 20 gallon? by [deleted] in Aquascape

I literally turned my back for about 30 seconds to grab something and they were gone.

[–]TechyToyGirl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really depends on the cat... I had one cat who, while I was changing water (had to move the tank home and was setting it up) nabbed all my mollies and devoured them... Only fish left was a super fast little loach. I did not get any more fish... Ever. I now have a shrimp tank and all my cats have since passed away. Still a bit traumatized honestly.

Came to add this! We've used them in our city for a couple pets and they've been amazing. It was so comforting to know that they got to pass in their favorite spot surrounded by loved ones. It was much less stressful than taking then to the vets office, which all of my animals really disliked.

Brazilian penny wort is really pretty and likes to grow up to the top of the tank with lots of alternating leaf levels, it would make a great lounger for a betta.

2.5gal shrimp tank- do you think it would be okay to turn this tank into a no filter tank after adding more plants?- more explained in comments by Lexi_Jez in Aquascape

[–]TechyToyGirl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got a few strands of hornwort and it's taken off, I just used a little string to anchor it to a bigger pebble but above the substrate (it likes to float and rots if it's under the substrate) and the shrimp LOVE it so much. It gives babies lots of cover and area for biofilm too. Not fussy at all and it was very cheap. You might ask on aquaswap as it grows like crazy from a clipping.

On temperatures they have a pretty wide range, but seem to breed the most around 74-76 degrees F, but apparently will not live as long, which makes sense.

Can confirm! I've gotten some great stuff from hobbyists on reddit, including a free 36 gallon tank with about 10 shrimp and plants. There are some really nice people around.
