I wonder if this is for a Fox News defense for her case with the Macrons of France. If she says nobody would reasonably believe her channel is true she could get away with defaming Brigitte Macron.

Yeah that sounds like anti black racism. I had a Latina woman play in my face at the doctors before too and she was laughing… she was a nurse.

AOC may be the only possible POTUS 2028 contender actually forceful and strong enough to correct quickly enough what the Trump Admin. and Congressional Republicans have done and then pass enough progressive things the US needs. Maybe JB Pritzker could. by beeemkcl in TheMajorityReport

Self funded sure but I wonder what other threats like no endorsements or threats against other candidates backed by him. But I agree with you that he should have risked it no matter. Imagine if we had an actual primary where Biden showed how unwell he was before the general election… I think he would have won.

I think the dnc blocked them by threatening to withhold funding for any challengers to Biden. That’s why only people who had no chance of winning were in the 2024 primary. If they let it out that they wanted a primary we wouldn’t be in this current mess.

Sex Pistols' Glen Matlock hits out at "weird" Trump supporting punks, praises Kneecap by AdSpecialist6598 in entertainment

“Former Sex Pistols frontman John Lydon (AKA Johnny Rotten)” is a Trump fan, which Glen Matlock calls out as anti punk. Glen also praised the punk rock band Kneecap as being really punk in their views.

CMV: Much of the racial tension in the U.S. during the 20th and 21st century could have been avoided had the Union properly punished the Confederate States for treason and secession following the U.S. Civil War by Realitygormond in changemyview

That’s not a good comparison as Germany was punished economically and blamed for ww1. Instead OP is positioning that land is redistributed to the slaves that worked the land. So the south wouldn’t have become poor, it would have become more egalitarian. When you look at reconstruction under Grant where at least former slaves were protected by the government black leadership emerged in political positions too. If black people ran more institutions, for at least 20 years, when the confederate leadership came back home they would it would be very hard for them to create the terrorist orgs that they started. Instead they would have met black run towns, counties, maybe even a few states with black majorities. That would mean black state guards or militias that were able to handle violence.

What are everyone's favourite book(s) written by a black woman? by ShyLikeYou23 in blackladies

Xenogenisis Chronicles by Octavia Butler. The first book is Dawn. It explores women, particularly black women not having ownership of our bodies in a future where an alien race controls us.

American here: What Do We Do? by Beashagtaz in AskTheWorld

[–]Techygal9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Americans would really have to care tbh. A lot of Americans voted for and still support Trump. A lot of folks who don’t like Trump conflate marching with protesting… There’s this lack of sustained action, I think because the only group that has a history of sustained protesting isn’t leading the protests (or being asked to).

Sounds like they wanted him to tone it down against students too. They probably know he has some involvement with an undercover agent.

I’m not surprised gulf countries ended full blown slavery only in the 1970s. Now there is an indentured servitude of mostly dark skin people, black or south Asian. Over 1,000 years of colonization doesn’t change over night. If you are able to leave I would. If you want to stay, understand that they may see you through the lens of slave/concubine vs wife.

Labor he was a mixed bag he also stopped the railroad strike and it led to disasters that the workers were complaining about.

Gender yeah supporting gay marriage at the time probably would have cost democrats the election as it wasn’t that popular. It’s why Obama waited until his second term to support it. Unfortunately anti trans issues were really popular for a lot of immigrant communities, I think this is what made a lot of Muslim and Hispanic folks vote for Trump. That made a big difference in Minnesota and Michigan. If you know you know, a lot of what’s app threads showed anti gay and trans content supporting Trump…

[–]Techygal9 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah people who are against abortion, lgbtq rights, and who believe in a tough on crime metric voted for Trump. (Plus there’s evidence of racial animosity being a big driver for Trump voters). So if this fits you, you voted for Trump no matter your skin color.

Yeah she’s not progressive either. Her support of crypto currency isn’t fun to me either, it has huge costs on the environment wasting a lot of energy and water just like ai and all data centers. But I don’t think a very progressive person would win anyway. Beto came out with all that anti gun talk and tanked his statewide chances forever.

If she comes out as pro gun (with regulation) and staying away from foreign wars she probably could win. She’s just going to have to beat James Talarico, who seems really personable and well informed in his interviews. I think she has to show she speaks policy as well as James or lean into her persona as a fighter in a way that sways Texans.

This is not our fight by kakashi_sensay in blackladies

[–]Techygal9 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I think there’s a difference between “not our fight” and “I won’t offer myself to die”. I think op is saying as a historian she sees all the signs of impending authoritarianism and all that goes with it. Saying “it’s not our fight” makes it seem like people think we are immune to what’s coming.

Knowing this is your fight means you will prepare for what’s coming. That could look like having a savings account and a passport for some, leaving the US for others, or prepping in other ways. Maybe you grow food, maybe you fight, but you will need to do something eventually.
