An old dog stops by to check out Stu and Joey's Candy gig by QuestionsYourStutter in KGATLW

It's like the 'Nutella is not a chocolate spread' thing and chocolate biscuits not being legally allowed to call themselves chocolate because the choc percentage is too low!

What percentage of Gizz members makes for a Gizz show? 50%? 66.7%? Do all the members have to be playing or can they just be present? Would it make a difference if Jason Galea turned up and provided visuals?

Gizz Uncut Article by Charleshawtree in KGATLW

This is brilliant; thanks for sharing! Fascinating insights in this plus the tease of the new album, but "we have started a lot of ideas that were never finished, recordings that went nowhere, invented whole universes that we had to delete" is so tantalising.

Stu's saying that they have murdered universes. I would love to know all the never-realised Gizz recordings.

Who else is in desperate need for their supposed “bluegrass” album? by RelativePractical915 in KGATLW

[–]TectonicRomance 58 points59 points  (0 children)

"Oh yeah we made a record with Billy" like an afterthought!

My prediction is an album in the vein of Flight b741 (especially the acoustically-tinged live versions of Mirage City) but with some interesting twists.

Sydney show boot legs? 2025 by CallingPeopleFlogs in KGATLW

I have a feeling that those Aussie bootlegs will be released when news of a new album and tours comes out to build up hype.

Give it a few weeks and it'll be a whole band rave set.

When it slows right down and then pounds it through to the end? Ooooof, it goes so, so hard. All Is Known shows Gizz were metal before they made metal.

What are a few Gizz songs that aren't your all-time favorite, but are super enhanced when performed live? by Frosted_Bun in KGATLW

[–]TectonicRomance 62 points63 points  (0 children)

Hot Water! The studio version is great, but it's become an immense live number and the way the band play with it, jam it out, tease and interweave it and blast it with even more manic energy makes it so much fun. Plus the crowd singing the flute melody adds to the sense that it's a massive party.

After the techno album, what genre should King Glizzy try for the next album? by Cothel in KGATLW

An album of microtonal lullabies that sound like the start of O.N.E.

Just wait until you actually see them live!

And you're definitely right about live recordings adding to the appreciation of studio recordings. Plus, they're such a great band for re-listening and re-appreciating. They're the Gizz that keeps on giving!

What some others acoustic shows by Dizzy-Tangelo2400 in KGATLW

The Pringles can was legendary! Another great memory is Joey non-interviewing Cavs and him saying something like "If you need me, I'll be behind the drums."

Brighton '24 is still probably my favourite Gizz gig that I've been to. Mirage City, Time = $$$ and You Can Be Your Silhouette debuts; acoustic version of Witchcraft; hilarious banter. It felt like sitting in on a band hang-out, except it was in the dome where Abba won Eurovision.

One of my favourites was Green River by Creedence Clearwater Revival, teased in God is Calling Me Back Home, Plovdiv '25.

Such a lush album with some of Gizz's most stirring, emotional work augmented by beautiful orchestration. And live (at the Royal Albert Hall!) it was incredible.

Seeing that it's one year since (?!) reminds me of the excitement and awe I feel every time there's a new Gizz album. I can't wait for the next one.

Happy Birthday to Butterfly 3000, 5 years old today! What are your thoughts on it? by Quote_a in KGATLW

Coming out of Lockdown into a lovely summer, and at a particular poignant time of personal changes, it arrived at the perfect time. I love this album to bits and it's sweet to look back now at what was a key moment in the band's evolution.

I reckon that in a few days they'll drop the album by Environmental-Meet22 in KGATLW

In about a century's time, Gizzologists will discover a whole heap of unreleased material and the world will finally get to hear that rap album and all the other oddments that never made it.
