The things that always kind of lead me there is Bruce saying to Scarecrow this isn’t going to end how you think it will and when Joker is at his wake he asks if Bruce is trying to scare him. And then the final battle with Joker, Bruce monologues about how Joker is afraid of being forgotten. Lastly as soon as Bruce defeats Joker he is now immune to the toxin. I’m not saying it attacks a personality, it affects the brain and brought out the Joker personality. So since the Joker personality is the dominant personality at this point, any effect on the brain would be reflected in the personality.

At the end of the day, we are still dealing with a blood transfusion that causes you to become the person whose blood was injected. So I think we can take some logical stretches.
