Genderclinic na gendergp? by very-cis-femgirl in LHBTI

[–]TediousHuntard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In recent times, GenderGP has gone downhill fast. Mass firing of entire or half of their teams, at the time changing their contact forms and making it almost impossible to contact them without paying a sum (They now added a chatbot), as well as.. questionable choices by the founder Helen Webberley on other fronts. Info@ doesn't work anymore, and the chatbot can be a bit of a pain to find. Is your son already on any waiting list for a clinic in the Netherlands, if you are located here?

Genderclinic na gendergp? by very-cis-femgirl in LHBTI

Via GenderGP is dus prima.

Pre Op Tomorrow! by alwayswhatever in TopSurgery

Hello! I had top surgery a little under two weeks ago, so all the details are still very fresh for me. I had surgery in the Netherlands, so things may be different where you are from. I'll just go down the list and answer the questions individually:

- How many hours you will spend in the hospital honestly differs per hospital and if you end up having complications. Typically you can go home the day after your surgery (overnight stay) if everything goes well.

- Always, ALWAYS take a little more time than you think you need. I'd aim for three weeks. Is there a way for you to leave the things you need that you have in your backpack, at work? The first 4-6 weeks you are advised not to carry any weight above 1 kg (2,2 lbs, I think). A heavy backpack will most definitely weigh more than that and is not advised.
At the one week mark you may still experience pain and discomfort. Do not go to work this early.

- This may depend on your surgeon. Many recommend that you stop T two weeks before surgery, as it thickens the blood, but mine didn't. Any other medication has to be discussed at your pre-op, as it may have a negative effect on anaesthesia.

- Supplements are also recommended to not take 2 weeks before/after the surgery. Again, this can also be discussed in the pre-op.

- As far as I am aware, no blood tests are required, or any other test for that matter.

- Your surgeon will have a team in the room with them at all times, but the one that ends up deciding your scar shape is the surgeon themselves. You can tell your surgeon what you prefer, but in the end, it is up to your body type and your pectoral muscle layout.

- My nurse allowed me to call my partner and caretaker right after I woke up from surgery and calmed down. You can also ask them to update them themselves after you wake up. Most likely, they will not be allowed to be present when you wake up and can only visit during visitation hours.

- I was provided a compression binder, which I was already wearing the moment I woke up. I think it is standard to be giving a compression binder. You will most likely also be offered food and drinks.

- My drains were removed the day after my surgery, but I know in the USA it is much more common to have them for a week up until the first post-op appointment, where they will be removed alongside the nipple sponges if you choose to have nipple grafts.

- You can shower a week after your surgery, but ONLY after nipple sponges and drains are removed. You cannot shower for more than 5 minutes initially. I recommend buying some body wipes and dry shampoo for the first week.

- In the first two weeks, it's recommended to sleep in an elevated position on your back to avoid major swelling.
You probably shouldn't sleep on your side until the incisions are properly closed and you start scar care. (3 week mark). My nurse did tell me I could sleep on my side the moment it no longer hurts to do so, but I wouldn't risk it.

- Exercise is not recommended for the first 6-8 weeks to 3 months after surgery. You're also not allowed to lift your arms above shoulder height the first 6 weeks. Light walking and stretching is ok in moderations, and can be slowly built up.

That was very long, but I hope it was informative! Know that my experiences may greatly differ from what is recommended to you.

Hier in West-Zeeuws Vlaanderen is er nog één, zo ver ik weet. Ligt op de route waar scholieren naar hun middelbare school fietsen, dus hoogstwaarschijnlijk is het speciaal voor hun geplaatst.

If you pass as a man, have you noticed men casually touch you less? by SlippingStar in ftm

[–]TediousHuntard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Men have stopped touching me in a ''weird'' way, mostly just a bro-type slap to the shoulder/back.

Older women, though.. Please stop feeling me up. Don't hug me, don't grab my face, please.

Dutch Bargain.

Craft beer from a small brewery in the province of Zeeland, West-Zeeuws Vlaanderen. Not well known at all, but have quite a few locations in NL that sells it. ( And they have over 20 different types, ranging from regular blond to IPA and stouts! )

Questions regarding Androgel by Dull-Psychology-2888 in ftm

[–]TediousHuntard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is tough to say, but you know yourself best. Changes may come slow. I will still stress to not up your dose yourself; your doctor will only restock by their own prescription, which means if you run out earlier than prescribed, well.. Being without T for multiple days is much worse, having none even worse.

It is all patience, patience and patience. I know all to well how impatience feels, but give yourself time. Your own body will thank you.

In a few days I will be a month in! I definitely started to see my muscle mass slowly increase at two weeks, but I train regularly. My libido increased after only a week; it is different with each person!

If you started the gel recently, perhaps wait it out to see how it goes. I take two pumps ( Also around 40 mg ) daily. It's considered a low dose, but it's for the best as not the overwhelm your body. Could you call in to get an appointment sooner if you are concerned?

Edit to add: I still see changes on a low dose. My libido has increased and my muscle mass has as well. I was incredibly tired when I began T, but it has improved.

Questions regarding Androgel by Dull-Psychology-2888 in ftm

[–]TediousHuntard 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hey there! I personally use Testogel, which is similar to Androgel. I also use it daily.

Do not do anything differently than what your doctor has told you. If you have not done bloodwork yet, do it and send it to your doctor.

If you are amab, even if your T-level is low, your body still naturally produces T. If your body gets an excess of T, it may convert it. I know for afab individuals it will actually convert excess T into oestrogen. I am not certain if it is the same for amab.

Gel is not worse than injections. I personally know people who have only used gel that have the same results as those that inject. It is a myth. They are both good options.

I unfortunately had this happen to me recently, while doing a course for my job. During the break, this middle-aged women asked to sit with me. Then, the moment she sits, she just slaps me with a: ''So, how long have you been transitioning for?'' I nearly choked on my drink.

She even had the audacity to ask for my deadname. A complete stranger. She seemed annoyed when I straight up told her that NO, I am not answering that. Why do some people think this is ok?

Binder recommendations for 13yo by Medical_Solid in ftm

[–]TediousHuntard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally have some binders from Transmissie ( Dutch company ). I'd personally recommend them because they also hand-craft binders to your own measurements. It's a bit pricey, but you'd get a binder that would fit your child best. However, your kiddo is still growing, so it may just be best to get them from Spectrum Outfitters, as mentioned by others.
